Colour: Copperish gold
Nose: Loads of apricot. Plums. Leaf tobacco. Excellent old whisky with the sherry cask influence reflecting quite well.
Palate: Gorgeous. Soft cinnamon. Orange peels. Oakiness. Some dry fruits. A big walnut note. Dry and vanishing. Gentle and mild. Unlike new age whiskies where there’s a lot of ‘on your face’ punchiness, this one is a soft mellowed down aged giant.
Finish: Very long with dry fruitiness, maltiness and some oakiness. Lasts long.
These the whiskies that reassure my taking to whiskies. Old style. No jumboree. No prickly feel. Yet quite a giant. Wonderful whisky. I rate this higher than the 35 yo because I find this profile more intriguing and not on the face sherry but a well infused one.
