Why is it rated so badly? It is the first horny Madeira maturation for a long time for me. It just takes time.

First of all, really stinging alcohol - time heals all wounds, then you get red grapes and milk chocolate, creamy and soft, milk sugar, nougat
    • Taste
      88 88
The nougat note is immediately there, noticeable alcohol, a lot of dryness, but creamy, a lot of heat in the mouth
    • Finish
      89 89
Powerful finish, dry on the tongue, creamy on the palate, stays long

  2. Don Cassi scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

Very sweet on the nose with a lot of vanilla sugar and nougat, plus fruity like light grapes, ripe apples and peaches?

In the mouth it is still sweet and fruity and very intense due to the alcohol. Wine-chocolate-flavored finish with grapes, plums, vanilla and a few nuts.
    Length: 4/10

Great, intense, sweet and fruity Glenallachie. Compared to Port, Rioja and Marsala sister barrels, for me it has a touch ahead.

    Note 1-

A very complex whisky for which you have to take your time and that needs time.
    • Nose
      90 90
      incredibly complex
Orange, dried fruits, caramel candies, buttery, creamy, honey, chocolatey, cookie dough, oak
    • Taste
      88 88
Very strong at the beginning due to the high alcohol content.
berry, malty, oily, cream candy, chocolate, herbs, oak, sweet on the tongue.
    • Finish
      87 87
      Nice warming and peppery finish

Today in the glass a GlenAllachie Single Cask Whisky from a Madeira Hogshead, bottled with a strong 61.6% vol. And of course uncolored.
At the beginning the whisky seemed quite closed and nervous, but with a little time and air you can fathom the wonderful sides of this barrel.
    • Nose
      88 88
Reduced to 48% vol. And with a certain time to breathe, a fruity scent flows from the sniffer: vineyard peach, raspberries, Galia melons, rose water. The sweetness is rather fruity, but reserved and not overwhelming. Fresh birch water, sandalwood and a little vanilla give the whisky a summery lightness.
    • Taste
      88 88
On the palate, a bouquet of fruit flavors: melons, quince, citrus, but also a little mint and white pepper, but very nicely integrated and vibrant. The game with the sweetness is great and neither overloaded nor overwhelming. White chocolate with orange comes to mind.
    • Finish
      87 87
In the finish, rather medium-long, there is initially a fresh mint on the palate, which is quickly replaced by fruit aromas and finally ends in a pleasant and light sweetness.
