Whisky Reviews for Edradour 10-year-old

- This is one of those typical love or hate whisky. I’m not sure if this is my cup of tea. I’ve had several vintages but none of them seems to tempt me.
Heavy spirit, heavy nose. Quite some sulphuric and unpleasant flavors of lactic acid. It’s rather hard to get over these flavors in the beginning. But giving it time works rewarding as often is the case. A full nose with quite some dark fruity flavors develop as well as spices and oak.
Oily, lots of bourbon cask influence to me. Smokey flavors of burnt wood but also quite some unpleasant bitterness. Lots of fruit peel. A little to much for me. Dried plumbs and intense oaky flavors.
Finish is the best part for me. Lots of heavy flavors and dark spices are there. Almost a little like heavily spiced rum. It’s pleasant offers quite some raisins and strawberry notes. The whole has been put on a bed of thick oak flavors.
- Beautiful, multi-layered and pleasant malt with dark fruits and gentle spices.
A little more volume percent definitely wouldn't hurt.

- Round, soft whisky. Ideal for getting started.
quite an intense mark-up for a 10 year standard, ripe bright fruit, light malty
mild onset (not as intense as the nose suggested), pleasant almost subliminal sweetness, strong malty and above all spice, slight bitter notes
medium length with a lot of aromatic spice
