Absolutely awesome thing in my eyes!
    • Nose
      94 94
Smoky PX sweetness - unmistakable, but still with this fine type of Bowmore, lots of leather, a dried mus from raisins, oak bark soaked in sugar beet syrup
    • Taste
      93 93
Very creamy, sweet and again very subtle smoke, light sizzling, good balance of alcohol strength, creaminess, spice and sweetness, heat gradually arises
    • Finish
      92 92
The finish is very much dependent on the length of time in the mouth, you can drink it like a PX sherry, then it is only sweet in the finish, it stays longer, the smoke remains creamy and spice and sweetness fight each other

Really great bottling. The delicate smoke in combination with the sweetness of the PX sherry works great - especially because it is not struck by the PX. Wonderfully coordinated bottling.

      - Dreamlike nose without any missing note, I can smell it forever

vigorous; tingling spicy wood notes (delicately tart); creamy-sweet; Sherry notes; dark fruits; delicate smoke; Dark chocolate; some leather towards the finish

long; slightly peppery and spicy; sweet; some leather; Wood notes; smoke

For me one of the best Bowmore bottlings of the past years together with the Vintners port. Everything is right for me here. Unmistakable Bowmore smoke notes, the slightly eager-floral character in combination with the PX notes (without any missing notes!) Result in an almost perfect whisky for me. I'm already in the seventh Bowmore heaven with my nose. Smoke, dates, leather, flowers, light soap, sawmill. Creamy sweet in the mouth, lusciously wet wood hits the tongue. Some orange zest and subtle flattering smoke, something - typically Bowmore - soapy and very, very spicy. The finish is very long, light peppery notes, the smoke, the sweetness of the PX and the leathery wood notes are brilliant.
    Hammer! 93 points

Very balanced pier, with a crazy nose, a bright, multifaceted and complex taste and a delicate, long-lasting finish. You must definitely buy this sample. I saw this lot at a recent auction????
    • Nose
      94 94
Fantastic nose, powerful Pedro barrels, Leather, plenty of Leather, dusty shelf, burnt jam, oily dark raisins, balsamic, grams of sea salt and a haze in the distance. This fragrance can be inhaled for hours.
    • Taste
      93 93
Taste: very delicate smoke, creamy sweet. Jam, sweet spicy spices, tons of sherry ingredients. This is not Pedro Finish, but a real sherry monster. The smoke component is ideally integrated into this miracle PX ensemble.
    • Finish
      91 91
At the finish you can feel the bourbon base of Bowmore, honey-wax motifs with a long peat finish. All this is unobtrusive, but very long.

Again a top malt here. Great experience. Compared to the 26yo Vintner Wine Barrique, a bit more restrained on the nose, but a bit more punch on the tongue, significantly more sweetness, a bit less peat and balanced in terms of flavor. Both are top Malts.

    Great fall dram.
    • Nose
Warm, thick, the aroma of prunes and cherries, a little smoke, cloves and plum jam.
    • Taste
The taste is bright, creamy, oily, sweet, full of dark berries and smoked dried fruits.
    • Finish
      Sweet, bright, creamy, tart.

Nose: The scent of dried fruit dominates, but it's open, so it's pretty quiet without stinging your nose. The characteristic tobacco ash flavor is underneath. After the dried fruits pass, the freshness of orange peel gradually rises.

Palette: Easy-to-eat body, slightly sweet, followed by spicy

Finish: Amazingly long. The combination of dried fruit, tobacco ash, and spicy enhances the mood.

Overall Review: I want to drink it with honey. My score is 91 points.

This limited release Bowmore 21 Year matured in Bourbon and Pedro Ximenez casks (just 2,500 bottles) is stunning! The Bowmore peat while carrying an “Islay” signature is not super medicinal, nor is it iodine-heavy. It’s more like a beach bonfire, and the smokiness plays beautifully with the Pedro Ximenez cask. While it wasn’t fully matured for 21 years in PX, whatever cask they used must’ve been a 1st fill, because the Pedro Ximenez Sherry influence is massive on the nose, palate, and finish.

I enjoyed my first taste of Bowmore with the Bowmore 15 Year (part of the “A Last Chat with Jim McEwan” Charity Set), but this Bowmore 21 Year limited release at a higher 49.7% ABV is even more enjoyable. It’s got a stronger, but approachable peat (this is coming from an unpeated whisky fan), beautiful Pedro Ximenez Sherry notes, a slightly herbaceous quality that’s standout. It’s like eating some toast with incredibly fresh farmers market plum jam sitting next to a beach bonfire with friends.

Herbal, peated, dark fruits. Rich, sweet stewed pluots. It’s an herbal peat, but not iodine, nor medicinal (i.e., different from Laphroaig). Lovely toasted caramel, dates appear as well. Old wood.
    • Taste
      90 90
Medium viscosity, good mouthfeel. Beach bonfire, an intense sweetness on the front palate, plums, raisins, dark stone fruits, but then the unique Bowmore peat shows up to balance out the dram. The smokiness here is really like a beach bonfire, some ocean waves, burning wood mixed in, same as the nose, it’s not medicinal like Laphroaig or Springbank. Old leather-bound books, dusty dunnage by the mid-palate.

A medium cinnamon-ginger appears on the front palate, but tapers off quickly so that by mid-palate it’s just a gentle warmth.
    • Finish
      89 89
Long. The beach bonfire is now in the distance, stewed plums, pluots. Old ocean-soaked wood washed ashore. The ginger has quickly faded, leaving your palate to enjoy the Bowmore peat and Pedro Ximenez influences. A pleasant mustiness evokes thoughts of another era.
