scbp-5371, the tongue-piercing saltiness tells us that the saltiness at 46 degrees is no coincidence, and the tough malt spirits in the liquor tell us that this wine hasn't gotten there yet.

High in sugar, lots of milk powder, tea latte, dill. Down below are Bowmore-style honeydew melon, honey, sweet citrus fruit aromas hidden deeper, sweet orange. Alcohol stimulation is not low, with ci non-peated barley sugar, no chemical feeling. 90
    • Taste
      82 82
Although the unpleasant flavors have dissipated with age, the liquor is original and aggressive. Under the pepper, the paste pot, the aroma of milk powder, the high-distilled whisky in the late 1970s is similar to the rms-style Barley Sugar/Barley Oil, lemon peel, bitter pomelo, and a little star anise. Strong wine, young and rough in body, sour, strong stimulation, prominent bitterness, tongue piercing, sweet but not solid p82b82
    • Finish
      83 83
It was bittersweet. Barley Sugar continues to occupy the main tone, the bitterness at the end persists for a long time, young and dry, and the caramelized sweet peat shows a certain temperament of the wine, but unfortunately the temperament cannot be eaten as a meal. 83

Impressive texture, with oily fruits and citrus cream, along with a minerality that offers some rewarding complexity.

The daftmill's taste really good, mostly fruity for a lowlander and fit great in a bourbon barrel with apricot flavor. But this price of 10,000 pounds is just ridiculous or not meant seriously and that's still at a dealer. Says it all... Even if it's so rare...

The nose appears complex but does not open up easily: walnut, rose, tiger balm and over time almond.
The palate is powerful and quite round, pastry and caramelized.
Good length finish on a caffeinated bitterness.
    The price is totally delusional.

Deep gold color, initially very cereal nose, vanilla, seems young, still on the malt. Then with aeration, vanilla, coconut, and some exotic fruits which appear in the background. Mouth with a thick texture, powerful, a lot of breadth, the alcohol could be better integrated, very cereal, vanilla there too. It reminds me of the Balvenie-Speside Daily Dram. Better with aeration, but above all we tell ourselves that a few years of barrels are missing. Great potential anyway, it's promising for an 11 year old, and it should give great whiskys in 5-10 years.

Not that I planned to drink Daftmill on the day, but I hear there are a more Daftmill’s dotted around, including a bottle exclusively for the whisky bars of Scotland. That’s at Fiddler’s.

N: Again, an albumen yeastiness coupled with a vanilla fruitiness.
T: In the main, all I noted was a waxy/gacky fruitiness in the form of boiled sweet confectionary.
F: Runs on through with similarity till the close.
C: The ‘gackiness’ holds it back a tad [active bourbon cask activity], but it’s still a very decent whisky.

Tried a dram in Artisan for £ 10.00. To start with, there are certainly better whiskys for £ 10.00. You have probably paid for the exclusivity of the bottling.

    About the whisky:

The smell is a bit harsh at first, then grain aromas, meadow scents, light citrus aromas and more sweetish scents of vanilla and honey come through.

The taste is a rather fruity, floral note with a clear share of muesli aromas (without raisins).

Tasted at the (fantastic) Ardshiel Hotel in Campbeltown. I'm a big fan of the 2006 Summer release, but this single cask didn't agree with me quite as much.

At 55.5% it's a punchy arrival, first impressions are of tart apples with a fizzy, calvados-like quality. Not really the same lovely fruity complexity as the 2006 Summer batch.

Taking it down to around 46% tames it a bit and becomes more citrusy, but still quite fiery and comes across as younger than its 11 years.

Finish is medium and quite drying, from calvados to apple & pear cider.

Overall it's not a hit for me, but still an interesting experience and always good to get the opportunity to try a Daftmill.

This single cask will only sold "by the measure" in "The Independent Whisky Bars of Scotland" bars, like The Ardshiel (Campbeltown), Artisan (Wishaw), The Bon Accord (Glasgow), Dornoch Castle Hotel (Dornoch), Fiddlers Inn (Drumnadrochit), The Highlander Inn (Craigellachie) and The Malt Room (Inverness).
