  1. Boletus did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Very interesting for beginners. However, it is not long-lasting and complex enough to leave a lasting impression. Overall rather disappointing, but maybe I only caught a moderate batch.
    • Nose
Red apples, prunes, a little sprightly, some nutmeg, otherwise there's no more
    • Taste
Malty, spicy, bitter oak note, a few roasted aromas, but also an alcoholic sharpness, almost no sweetness
    • Finish
Dry, very short, bitter wood note remains, everything else is negligible and not worth mentioning

      Sweet, slightly sugary, short-lived.

  4. hafssol scored this whisky 78 points Expert Junior

Warm colour and smooth taste. You can feel the sherry, but it's not overwhelming. Raisins and soft vanilla for a warming autumnal dram.

  5. Gweddry scored this whisky 79 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
Mulled wine, plum jam, raisins, walnuts
    • Taste
      wine, raisins, very sweet,
    • Finish
      short

  6. ricallende scored this whisky 73 points Expert Senior

If you are being introduced in whisky culture you may consider this as a solid entry level sherried whisky. Nice for beginners
    • Nose
Sweet sugar, caramel, toffee, nuts, dried fruits
    • Taste
Sweet sugar again and caramel, weak nuttiness, oak spices and something bitter in the background
    • Finish
Short finish, lingering gentle bitterness, oak spices.

  7. larswehmeier scored this whisky 79 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Voluminous, mature impression in the nose. Whole orange - the famous Dalmore citrus fruit. Pleasant sherry fruitiness behind it. A touch of oak.
    • Taste
Mild and creamy on the tongue. Again a lot of orange. With a bit of bittersweet chocolate. Remember Jaffa Cake. A little bitter coffee. Overall, spicy rather than sweet.
    • Finish
      Medium. Warming. Dark.

There's a little bit of everything, but not enough of anything interesting and this makes this dram a rather weak and disappointing one in this price range.
    • Nose
Faint notes of oranges, vanilla, apples, sugar and some darker fruity elements smelled through a thin layer of cardboard.
    • Taste
Sweet and fruity, but not too distinctive. There are some sherry cask elements with toffee, prunes, also some pears and vanilla, but overall it's quite flat and bland.
    • Finish
Short, on the fruitiness overlapping from the taste and the slightest spiciness.

The nose is dominated by the malt sweetness. The taste of this whisky remains very pale and without any special properties - 23.12.2014

Sweet malt aroma with some spice but otherwise hardly anything to discover

I've heard a lot of talk about how certain malts are "engineered" or
"constructed", but I seldom come across whiskies that actually feel like
some blender had meticulously assembled them from scratch. This
particular Dalmore, however, fits the bill. I'm not sure I can explain
what exactly it is that makes this Dalmore feel vaguely "synthetic", but
I've tried plenty of heavily sherried whiskies, and this one tastes
    slightly... peculiar. Perfectly pleasant, though.

A good Dalmore aged in sherry cask. Not very impressive so far. I drink it gladly, but just a glass once in a while. If we have to make a small statement on the price: a little expensive ... but let's take advantage before Dalmore increases the price to 500 euros.
    • Nose
Red fruits, chocolate, grapes, sugar, vanilla. A bit sweet, alcohol is not perfectly integrated.

Strange (but not at all disturbing, rather amusing) impression of old wooden furniture, old paper and sugar mixed together. It reminds me of years of elementary school, but I can not get my hands on it.
    • Taste
Large notes of red fruits and dried fruits. Vanilla, sugar, French toast, cinnamon, coffee, leather, muscatel, dark chocolate. Influence of the cask, rather sweet.
    • Finish
Always on the fruits. Suave, hot. Wood, bitter, orange, cinnamon. Neither short nor long.

    Not very complex but easy.
    • Nose
      60% sherry - 40% bourbon.
Well, that does not feel. We have a lot of old wood, a little sugar and vanilla. Some touches of spices.
    • Taste
Ultra easy, goes very quickly in the mouth, leaving notes of caramel, dried fruits and wood.
    • Finish
Long, vanilla and woody. Maybe a little sherry.

  27. Tothemorrow scored this whisky 82 points Member Senior

Complex sweet mix of vanilla, fudge, raisins, figs, dates, malted barley, brine, cream, butter, spices and oak

Short finish. Adding water kills the whisky totally

  28. granella2003 scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

The tasting gives a very soft aroma with fruity notes partecipates is remarkable memories of smoke. The taste is full, dry with hints of peat and malt. The notes of burnt caramel, orange and mandarin, oak, make it seem oldest of 12 years.

  29. granella2003 scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Aromas of orange and dark plum followed by notes of dark chocolate, marmalade, oak, sherry with vanilla and marzipan
    • Taste
An enchanting combination of citrus and sweet vanilla in the foreground supplemented by fruit cake, coffee, soft eieknhout and cinnamon
    • Finish
The long and fruity aftertaste of oranges and hints of vanilla, plums and cinnamon make it complete.

  30. D3US scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

    Re-taste:

Nose: Orange and cinnamon. A faint puff of smoke. Elegant malt, berry fruits. Maybe grapes. Dark spices, maybe even some coffee notes.

Taste: Fruity (oranges, citrus, berries) and vanilla sweetness all wrapped in a blanket of slightly bitter spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, coffee), balanced by nice malt.

Finish: Warming, still that bitter-sweet edge of vanilla and fruit on one side and cinnamon nutmeg spices on the other. Not very long, though, the only downside.

Comments: I think I was too harsh on this in my previous tasting, or maybe I just have a better bottling this time. A very nice whisky, indeed.

new 12 year old is very impressive even by Dalmore`s high standards."

A decent whisky. Not one to stay home for but nevertheless respectable. I will have this in my collection always, but I wonder if it's for the design or for the taste.
    • Nose
Woody and a bit wine-like. Hints of orange, cinnamon apple and coffee. Malted barley evident.
    • Taste
Sweetness of ripe fruit. Freshness of orange zest and a slight bitterness of coffee and spices. A bit leathery at the end. Dries up quickly.
    • Finish
Medium. Quite dry but in a pleasant-ish way. I can really taste some spices like cinnamon, nutmeg and things like that. Fresh orange and sweet barley.

Beautiful balance of tempting aromas. Gently fragrant peat-smoke. Orange marmalade, malt and sherry.
    • Taste
Orange. Cream. Distinct aniseed. Honey. A very complex malt, with wonderfully combined flavours.
    • Finish
Almost chewy. Faint citrus zest. Smoky dryness. The faintest hint of the sea.

A nice malt and i do like the malts of this type but i have tasted better. It doesn`t come close to the Macallen 18 yrs sherry cask or Glendronach Revival. A nice looking bottle and the presentation is class.

    • Nose
Sherry and malted barley.  Orange zest.  Marzipan.  Hints of smoke.
    • Taste
Very creamy.  Toffee and sugar.  Spiced oranges, like at Christmas time.  Vanilla pudding.
    • Finish
      Long and silky.  Dry.

  40. Feusi scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

Sherry and nuts, dried fruits, a hint of smoke, well balanced, pleasant whisky  with a beautiful colour. This can be an everyday dram and i guess it stands in many bars.

  41. Willie JJ did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

It's hard to tell what the whisky is like, but there's no doubt that the caramel is rubbish.
    • Nose
      Orange, fruitcake, figs and toffee.
    • Taste
Orange with little sugary sparkles. Toffee, but not in a good way. Feels like a lively malt being suffocated by syrup.
    • Finish
      Flattened & bitter.
