Very round, soft whisky. I like it better than the Brodir.

Heavy sweetness, peat that reminds of cigar smoke, seaweed, salty-maritime, red berries
    • Taste

Soft on the start, sweetness with the smoke, mouth filling, red currant, very well integrated alcohol
    • Finish

Medium length, the wort and peat smoke remain the longest.

The Laphi fits nicely into the portfolio of the distillery.
The smoke is remarkably ashy and compliments the port wine characteristics.

  3. Archer scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

A very nice, fruity Laphroaig that is both classic and, with its finish in Ruby Port barrels, takes a modern direction, but without exaggerating.
    • Nose
Freshly poured it looks a bit restless at first, but if you allow it to rest in the glass for a little while, you will be rewarded with phenolic peat smoke, which is very pleasant in combination with blackberries, grapes and black currants. A freshly tarred ramp that leads into the North Sea. Hansaplast, seaweed on wood soaked in salt water.
    • Taste
Although it is fruity-sweet at the start, the well-known and typical Laphroaig flavors also hit the tongue: strong peat smoke, warm tar paper, seaweed, salt, Hansaplast. Still warm blackberry jam, black currants, cherries. The fruits are not too dominant, so that the sweet aromas from the Ruby Port barrel do not appear superimposed at all. Rather, it gives the impression that everything should already be like that. Hot chocolate with a high cocoa content, espresso beans, charred caramel candy.
    • Finish
Of course, the peat smoke is present on the tongue for a long time, but the fact that the finish is medium to long is not due to the smoke, but to the fact that the very pleasant peat smoke and fruit mixture - accompanied by a good portion of sea salt - simply does not say goodbye want.

Delicious smoky whisky, with hints of wine.
    • Nose
Sea, smoke, spices, pharmacy, old leather, berries, mint.
    • Taste
Salt, iodine, pepper, caramel sweetness, dried fruits, citruses, tannins.
    • Finish
Long lasting, with hints of iodine, salt, butterfish, pepper, lemon peel, berry jam and oak.

only my personal feeling, not what I was expacting from a Laphroaig...maybe the port isn´t working here for me.

  8. KB201 scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

This Laphroaig was bottled for travel retail and finished in port casks. The smoky notes of the Ilsay malt combine harmoniously with the fruity-sweet notes of the port wine.
    • Nose
Sweetish aromatic smoke, port wine notes, vanilla, juicy orange, malt notes.
    • Taste
Strong, sweet and spicy attack, lots of port wine, dark fruit basket, smoked ham, peppery heat, spicy oak.
    • Finish
Long and sweet smoky spicy, slightly dry port wine notes and oak spice.

  9. Georges scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

It is of medium viscosity and its bouquet is of relatively strong intensity. I have aromas of pleasant maritime peat smoke, nuts, citrus fruit, vanilla and honey sweetness. Not very complex. Pretty sweet in taste. The alcohol is well integrated and a relatively heavy body.

    Odor
    Sweet, smoke, maritime, menthol note

    taste
Sweet, ashy smoke, ash, little fruit, very little port influence

    finish
    Medium length, maritime, sweetish

The price is a joke, 50/60 euros would be OK

    Delicious.
    • Nose
      Colour:
      Gold with some copper

      Nose:
A nice, dense smoky note first creeps out of the glass. I don't think it's that badly medical. What he's got is a lot of salt and shoe wax. Then comes moist topsoil and a meaty aroma. Has something of chicken broth. Behind it lies the vinous aroma. With raspberries, strawberries and chocolate. He has a really nice, slightly sweet nose. I like it very much. With a little time in the glass, more vanilla and a little coconut will prevail.
    • Taste
Soft, but bitter, smoky start. The smoke looks rather dry and brings a peppery load. Behind it currently this subtle berry sweetness and again the damp earth. Significantly more musty and salty with the second sip. Here now also a slight medical impact. Looks more metallic and rusty on the second sip. Rust remover steam and grain. Rancid fat and musty lemon. Somehow something of beer mash and bread.
    • Finish
Medium to long. First rusty metallic with dry smoke. Then salty sweetness with cereals.

If someone blindfolded me and put this and a Brodir in front of me, I wouldn't know who is which
    • Nose
maritime; nice smoke and an intense sweetness; in the background there are deep fruit notes
    • Taste
sweet; fruity; cold smoke, ash; sweet again; Red fruits
    • Finish
marine smoke with salt and seaweed; turns into cold smoke; again and again fruit; a hint of citrus

  16. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

A very straightforward, strong and easy to drink smoker. I didn't really notice the port influence, I found the "hardness" of the peat smoke to be extremely extreme, maybe because it was young and the grassy component was reinforced by the port barrel?
    • Nose
strong, vegetal peat smoke, sweet notes, hints of fruit, but the peat board flattens everything.
    • Taste
nice combination of sweetness and spice, with a good push of peat and alcohol, some oak, slight bitterness
    • Finish
long on peat smoke, spices, some oak.
