One more cask of rum. The same ilk as the release for Denmark, but still a little too focused on the barrel and spices.
In both cases I don't really like the nose.

The appearance of a very soft peat in the finish seems to be a constant on this series of Kilkerran 15yo. This is really the highlight here.
    • Nose
      85 85
A nose very focused on the solvent and the spices of the wood.
Glue, smoke, green wood, pineapple peel.
      Light sulfur. Freshly cracked match.
Roasted almonds, dried nuts. Lemon, overripe apple.
      Light shoe polish.
    • Taste
      86 86
In the mouth it is more balanced.
Wood, light milk chocolate. Caramel, vanilla, cinnamon.
      Blackcurrant, currant. Licorice.
      A little molasses.
      Light meaty side, barbecue.
Unfortunately always a little rubber side that does not want to go away.
    • Finish
      88 88
Long finish on barbecue, peat, smoke. Grilled meat, gray. Licorice, molasses. It warms up.
Slight woody astringency at the end of the mouth. Baked apple skin.

Nose: pink peppercorns, orchids, blue cheese, halva, sahlab, almond rugelach, smoked lavender
Palate: clementines in syrup, poached quinces
Finish: raspberry and rosehip, rhubarb presse

This is my favourite of the three portwood releases

Tasted after the DK release. Full port maturation here it seems. A bit rough and unbalanced. Enjoyable though.
    • Nose
Rubber, balsamic vinegar, tobacco, earthy notes. Raisins and nuts. Hints of red fruits. Bonfire smoke.
    • Taste
Rubbery, leathery, ashy and peppery. Caramel, meaty notes, a touch of burnt wood. Red berries.
With water, the nose is more leathery and earthy. Hints of chocolate. The palate is more unbalanced.
    • Finish
      Long, meaty and earthy.

very fruity KK a little hot on the palate and both time and water help. Lots of wood spice.
