In both cases I don't really like the nose.
The appearance of a very soft peat in the finish seems to be a constant on this series of Kilkerran 15yo. This is really the highlight here.
-
A nose very focused on the solvent and the spices of the wood.
Glue, smoke, green wood, pineapple peel.
Light sulfur. Freshly cracked match.
Roasted almonds, dried nuts. Lemon, overripe apple.
Light shoe polish. -
In the mouth it is more balanced.
Wood, light milk chocolate. Caramel, vanilla, cinnamon.
Blackcurrant, currant. Licorice.
A little molasses.
Light meaty side, barbecue.
Unfortunately always a little rubber side that does not want to go away. -
Long finish on barbecue, peat, smoke. Grilled meat, gray. Licorice, molasses. It warms up.
Slight woody astringency at the end of the mouth. Baked apple skin.
