    Hammer, what a brilliant Bowmore, perfectly balanced. For me, a round about successful and balanced complex not overloaded Bowmore. hot!
    • Nose
      Very fruity and harmonic it rises in the nose, not a little stabbing alcohol, the smoke takes quite a while until he is really felt but just puts more flavors in the nose, a really soft warm smoke that is not as dirty as Bowmore already let's see. Also, the typical bitter Olloroso I do not find here, rather he acts like a fruity PX without this overlaying sweetness
    • Taste
      Full and fruity, it runs on the tongue, oily and light honey notes are palpable, a little later the smoke on the palate knocks and wins beautiful spicy oak completely without bitter substances.
    • Finish
      strong but not alcoholic, here comes the smoke with the oak to full advantage and leaves a long-lasting fruity palate flattering.

    Gorgeous! This Bowmore captivates with its complex and harmonious nature, it looks extremely balanced and absolutely not overloaded what you could guess from the color. delicious fabric, I like it very much!

    • Nose
      Long and oily "legs" adhere to the glass wall, light amber glistens promisingly in the Premium Snifter while dried berries rise powerfully. Minimal peat and smoke are added, meadow herbs and spices mix with slightly resinous pine needles, forest honey is infused with salty and maritime elements. Hazelnut chocolate and caramel melt, dark and dried fruit aroma flatters the nose, the earthy peat increases minimally and ends again in creamy hazelnut chocolate.
    • Taste
      After the first sip, the Bowmore sticks slightly smoky with an unbelievable spice, earthy on the palate, roasted hazelnuts and creamy dark chocolate stimulate the saliva. Minimal sharpness arises, a pinch of salt and black pepper also dissolve minimally smoky wooden elements, a hint of fly ash. Dark forest honey mixes with fresh herbs and spices, again creamy hazelnuts and toffee come into their own, minimally rubbed off from oranges and grapefruit. Subtle sharpness massages the tongue, slightly smoky pieces of wood stick and warm peat on the palate, the mouthfeel becomes noticeably creamier and oily.
    • Finish
      Salt and pepper still gently massage the tip of the tongue, smoky sticking of peat and old wood tones on the inside of the cheeks, dark berries and minimal orange aroma end in old hazelnuts and walnuts. The wonderful aftertaste remains greasy and oily for a long time. After what feels like an eternity, it ends with a slightly smoky note of wood and peat.

    N: Soft, slightly earthy smoke rises from the glass, not as ashy or extremely peaty as a Laga, Laphi or Ardbeg or as some Bowmore bottlings have already offered. Flowery floral notes, but no trace of some hated lavender or perfume notes. In addition, plenty of sweetness, so I ask myself the question if there was not a PX barrel in the game and beautiful hazelnut notes. Liquid Nutella with floral smoke, this combination is ultra-cool!
    M: Sweet, again Nutella, hazelnut ice cream, light smoke, vanilla and again these floral notes, which I can not properly classify and describe, but which I have liked a lot on Bowmore bottlings and also make this whisky an absolute experience ,
    A: Long, fantastically long, sweet and salivary. Minimal oak bitterness slowly settles on the tongue.

    Conclusion: I am currently in the absolute whisky sky. For me one of the best bottlings I've drunk this year. The alcohol is not noticeable. The aroma composition is awesome. 92-93 points

    This one was available at MoS’s Warehouse Shop in Paderborn.

    Colour: amber/bronze. Perhaps a nail or a patch…

    Nose: much less extreme than the slightly monstrous Whisky Barrel, but still in line with the properly good sherried Bowmores. Blood oranges, bouillons, cow stable, horse saddle, hay, cigars, chocolate, balsamico, hessian, marrow… No, in truth this is rather fantastic, as it keeps unfolding over many long minutes. No, it’s even dazzlingly fantastic.

    Mouth: amazing. Classic Bowmore of old, incredibly full of small red berries, chocolate, tobacco, meats, soups, game (grouse), plus… oh hell and putrefaction, please call the Anti-Maltoporn Brigade!

    Finish: I’ll mention only one flavour, pink pepper.

    Comments: it’s still got a few rough edges here and there, but once again, ten years in a good cellar (mine, for example) and you'll be a long way from here. In my book, Bowmore’s the typical malt whisky that ought to be cellared. Don’t you enjoy a few controversies? We’re not talking to you, Beam Suntory.

    An absolutely successful Bowmore with beautifully woven aromas, complex and harmonious. MoS can do Bowmore better than Bowmore himself. Chapeau.
    • Nose
      Dark fruits mix with light smoke. Cherries and raisins interwoven with the smell of toorf moss, sea grass and a salty sea breeze. It is followed by hints of rosemary and thyme mixed with sweet forest honey. Old leather mixed with coffee aromas accompanied by spruce needles. Light earthy aromas waft in the background.
    • Taste
      A very light, almost watery start with light smoke, sweet and earthy mineral notes. Traces of nuts mix with Bensdorp cocoa and bourbon vanilla. Oranges follow that turn into slightly peppery notes. The still present sweetness mixes with fudge and light herbal notes. Old oak rounds off the taste.
    • Finish
      Cool, light smoke mixes with oranges and a slight trace of salt. The old oak lies comfortably in the background and mixes with dark chocolate and sultanas.

    After the consistently good reviews, I had hoped for a little more, whereby I always have the great MoS Bowmore from 2015 in mind. He can't get to that for me.

      Chocolate and nutty smoke, raisins, slightly floral, greasy, is of course easy to say with the knowledge of the whisky, but clearly recognizable as Bowmore, somewhat tart red fruit, which is accompanied by a salt note, also clearly wood, a hint of furniture polish , then again and again dark chocolate, the smoke is not very intense, overall it looks very ripe and set, after the first sip a little mint in the nose

      starts very fruity, creamy, with a hint of sulfur, raisins, sherry, but again here the sour with the red fruit, salt on the palate, flowery, yes the violet flashes, I only consciously notice the smoke now, but instead much more intense than in the nose, then it becomes woody, combined with salt, somehow cold from the mouth and not very viscous
    • Finish
      tart, nuts, tart, raspberry, cold ash, some menthol, the mouth becomes fresher, lasts for a long time, warming
