An excellent nose, with a good combination of dried fruits and interesting sourness. Less old sherry notes than I thought. For those that don't know, sherry notes in modern springbank are sometimes iffy, but in an older Springbank, can mean an additional $1-2k.
Definitely not as fresh and bright as the nose. For such a reputable Springbank, the palate seems a bit subdued to be honest. It's still delicious, but I just expected more from an older Springbank. The fruits aren't as bright here. I need to taste this again under better circumstances probably -- we opened this on the 17th floor penthouse on a cold, windy NYC day. Our bad.
Nuts and milk chocolates. Pleasant enough, but wish it was a bit longer.
I was definitely not overwhelmed by this Springbank.
