  1. Bosi scored this whisky 87 points Specialist

A very successful bottling, in which the distillate and the barrel harmonize perfectly and prove that the result is better than the sum of the individual components.
    • Nose
Somehow this whisky is classically Laphroaig, but at the same time it's not. At the beginning it has something very maritime with iodine, brine and a touch of seaweed. After a certain period of time, the aromas of the barrel take over: raisins, red grapes, cocoa and a hint of cinnamon.
    • Taste
The whisky has a wonderfully oily texture. The barrel has taken away some of the smoke, so that it is almost tamed for a Laphroaig. There is also an interplay of the above-mentioned maritime and sherry notes in the taste. There is also a dash of citrus notes.
    • Finish
The finish is medium long. Maybe 48% would have been the perfect drinking strength. A slight tingling sensation and a little salt remain on the tongue. There is also a little coffee and a slight acidity.

If you give your colleague plenty of time in the glass, you have a nice interplay of aromas. In terms of taste, it can't quite keep up. But is whining at a high level. Because it's just delicious.

Notes from an online blind tasting ...

Starts with dry wood. A little paint color. Becomes moldier and slightly brackish. Then it develops more and more maritime. Sea breeze. The smoke is more ashy and dry. The underlying fruit is rather light and now goes more in the fermented direction. A touch of caraway seeds and bread dough.
With a little time in the glass, more mineral. Dry cigarette tobacco. Old, worn leather. A trace of lovage and an overripe fruit sweetness. Vanilla and a little caramel.
With more time in the glass, it gets darker, greasy and waxy. Class!!!
    • Taste
Soft but spicy start. Then a good seasoning. Slightly chili. Earthy dry. With ashy smoke. Very waxy with a pinch of salt. The fruit is now moving more towards smoked raspberries and plums. Dark chocolate and espresso bitterness. The doughy nuances with caraway seeds also have a taste. Partly has a sweetness that reminds me of Haribo cola bottles. With a slightly sour lemon.
    • Finish
Medium length. First sweet with ashy smoke. Then the seasoning again.

It looked very familiar to me. Nice earthy, slightly ashy smoke. Not too young, spicy.
