- Doesn't tolerate water. The best is the nose.
- On the nose, the whisky looks floral and very fruity with notes of pears and apricots, slightly drizzled with honey. In addition a creaminess and vanilla, which immediately create a picture of a vanilla soft ice cream in a waffle in my head. But it could also be a pear cake with a juicy, moist vanilla base. A little wood comes after, rather light, fresh wood than old oak furniture from grandfather's times. Overall pleasing, sweet-creamy and fruity but lacking in depth and complexity.
In the mouth, the 52.1% push properly, but are still very easy to drink pure and look much gentler than expected. Again there is a light creaminess, then the sweetness comes with the light fruits, before the wood shows who is the boss in the mouth today and is pushing to the fore. Pepper and nutmeg are his companions, the fruit and sweetness hide and allow it to turn into a spicy-dry finish.
Less fruit and less sweetness remain in the mouth than I hoped for when I smelled them. Wood, nutmeg, pepper, a hint of summer meadow with flowers and fruit. Not a particularly exciting finish for me ... I hoped for more after smelling.
Overall, this is a whisky that smells very tasty in the nose, but then lags behind in the mouth and the finish is too simple and short. Not every whisky can be a blast ...
