Whisky Reviews for Invergordon 1987 Wy

8 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.26 points

  1. 11insomnium scored this whisky 89 points Expert Junior

With a lot of time in the glass and some water, it becomes very aromatic and sweeter after 40 minutes.
    • Nose
Silvesterkracher, sweet and fruity, dark dried fruit, sherry, port, oak, later flowery and aromatic, cinnamon and other spices, red currant jelly
    • Taste
Sweet syrup, brown sugar, full and fruity sherry, slightly alcoholic sprittig, but not spicy, spicy
    • Finish
      Spicy and fruity with oak

  2. marmeladow scored this whisky 94 points Expert Senior

My oldest whiskey to date and one of my best, single grain or not - it's just grandiose and complex, naturally very special and something special.
31 years maturing in a single cask for € 105 - the heart of the aficionado laughs if he wants to think outside the box of single malts.
With 30 minutes standing time in the nosing glass and after several days of air in the bottle to enjoy terrific and without water. With this stuff you should allow yourself a lot of time and several rounds of enjoyment on different days and not make a judgment prematurely
    • Nose
Color: very venerable, dark brown (burnt sienna) like old amontillado or very well matured old rum
dark, profound, beguiling, changing, always very beautiful. Ripe fruit, maple syrup, rum, brown sugar, marzipan, coffee. Strongly flavored pipe tobacco
    • Taste
creamy-oily, powerful and sweet, a real treat on the palate. Mild spice, ABV very well integrated. Otherwise the palate gets what the nose promised. At the back it becomes pleasantly bitter-sweet and spicy
    • Finish
very long and intense, all flavors come up again in their diversity, becoming drier and bittersweet (grain!) in the course

  3. gallfux did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

I actually wanted to buy it blind. Found the key data interesting. Ever wanted an older Grain with sherry. In addition my vintage (which was not so important). I'm glad that I tried a sample before that. Not inedible, but also not a candidate for a large bottle.
    • Nose
The first nose is sobering. For the key data relatively thin and alcoholic. The typical Grainnoten paired with the sherry are there. The sherry tends to go in a sour direction. Red currant. Immature, red gooseberry. A little bread. Somewhat moldy, mossy wood. Forest floor.
    • Taste
In the mouth then less alcoholic. Still not as intense as I imagined. Fruit tea with candy sugar. Then again the sour, red fruits. Now there are a few sloes. Wood Stain. Oak spice. The wood is rotten, but not so old.
    • Finish
Cinchona bark. Pomegranate. Slightly mildewed grapes. Hop.
