  1. Mannix65 scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

nice oldschool Malt, very tasty - unfortunately a bit one-dimensional
    • Nose
Canned peaches, kumquats, tangerine, Kribbelt spicy in the nose, caramelized sugar
    • Taste
Bitter orange, citrus, orange fruit sweets, ripe papaya, behind well-integrated oak
    • Finish
fruity, spicy, fruit curry - relatively short

The barrel wood makes a really good impression in places, but undermines it in other places. The malt itself tries to fit into the 'old school' category, but manages it rather half-heartedly. Overall, I would have hoped for more complexity. For the full review, go here: https://keinehalbendrinks.de/2022/04/24/altes-zeugs-iii/

I really liked it. It's more of a confident gentleman.
For me he doesn't really make mistakes and has an authority without being loud.
    • Nose
Crunchy cereal. Cane sugar. Acacia honey. Apricot jam. Yellow apples glazed in butter. Vanilla. Wax. Dusty old books. Rose water. Nice aromatic oak notes that can also be reminiscent of smoke.
    • Taste
It lies comfortably in the mouth. Very calm, full and creamy at the beginning. Fudge. Passion fruit juice. The apricot jam is now on a buttered toast. Yellowed paper. Lots of wax. Tree sap too. Floral echoes. Then it becomes livelier as the oak sets in and it tingles a bit.
    • Finish
Orange peel. Caramel. Warm oak tones.

Fruit basket. Vanilla. Dense, closely woven fruit atoms. Not entirely definable. Go towards Mango, Papaya.

Creamy, light-footed. Unfortunately not a bomb like the nose. Rather shy, subtle. Very smooth. Alcohol not noticeable. Minimal pressure of the oak wort. Let it stand for a moment, it opens. Ventilate after 15 min. It gets a little wider. More spice, more power, a little more fruit.

Beautiful old-school dram with a great nose that slowly opens up and then reveals a lot of sweet fruitiness. In the mouth then herbaceous and woody, the fruits appear again later and also the sweetness. So he does what he promises.
Nice long finish. Very easy to drink.

Really nice oldschool fat, just 70s stuff, it's hard to find something bad over 20 years. That it is more fruity and sweeter in the mouth than in the nose is just fine, has 0 miss notes everything.
    • Nose
Nice oldschool, lots of fine oak barrel comes through, typical Fettercairn, cereals, round malt, all sorts of corny varieties, autumn leaves, red apple, peach, honey, Toffifee, cocoa powder, lavender
    • Taste
Also here nicely stale in positive, much orange, fruity as the nose would suggest, if not a fruit bomb, peach, cereals, round and slightly sweet malt, toffee, rosemary, brown sugar, Earl Gray tea, cinnamon, later even some papaya
    • Finish
Sweet malt, orange zest, cereals, herbal honey, medium to long

an good old (stillmans) dram! But there are other bottlings that have much more expression and power on the palate!
    • Nose
Fruits, less berries, malt, less wood, bread with dry fruits
    • Taste
fruits, malt, different wooden notes, full-bodied
    • Finish
warm malty notes, wood, dry smoke, dry, middle-long - disappears suddenly
