Whisky Reviews for Benrinnes 2006 AD

Far too sweet in the mouth for the oaken promise of the nose. For me, very unbalanced, that somehow does not fit together. That's a pity.
    • Nose
      85 85
Very dark, a bit closed at the beginning. Very dry and almost acid free. Only burnt caramel on the sweet side.
    • Taste
      85 85
In the start surprisingly sweet for Oloroso, too sweet for my taste, but still consistent in itself. He does not look like churning dessert wine. The alcohol is very soft, the mouthfeel very oily, almost firm. Hardly make out oak under the sweetness.
    • Finish
      83 83
The finish is rather short and not very meaningful. Simple fading.

Once again, the dark sherry hype seems to let go of all feelings for bad notes when I look at the marks here. ;)
    • Nose
Marzipan, hazelnut chocolate, caramel and nougat, cereal bars such as corni, burnt butter, damp hay and raisin syrup
    • Taste
Burning, alcohol very poorly integrated, because I had> 60% better integrated, very modern sherry unfortunately, in all negative meaning, plum brandy, chestnut, plum, cherry, maggi, soy sauce
    • Finish
Soy sauce, raisins, plum jam, clove, camphor, lovage, medium to long

Very tasty! Bold, yet very approachable. Neither too extreme for a first-fill cask nor too boring with just bags of caramel and honey. Sherried Benrinnes is most often a sight to behold and paired with Adelphi’s cask management one is almost never disappointed.

Vibrantly fruity, with figs, mango, passion fruit, and rhubarb. Resinous and sweet-ish. Subdued mint chocolate, some varnish akin to faint furniture polish, and with some air more spicy-damp aromas. Salted caramel and dried leaves perhaps? With water: perfumed oak, grape essence, and mint tea. Good stuff!
    • Taste

Juicy-sweet arrival, spicy-sour permeation over tongue and to your throat. Dark chocolate and espresso, blueberry pie, and vanilla pods. With water: Nutmeg and more chocolate sauce, oak incense, orange zest.
    • Finish
      90 90
Medium. Bergamot oil, mint chocolate, and herbal tea.

    • Nose
      Colour:
      Dark reddish brown

      Nose:
Start with neat leather. In addition a dark, einkochtes berry flavor. Sour plums, sour cherries and a dry hazelnut. There is something very special inside. Smells something like mounting foam. Modriges wood and ne track bitumen. I'll leave something ...
With a little time in the glass, the colleague looks drier. Smells like moist hay and herbs are coming through nicely. Has something of rosemary. There's something else there ... a smell that comes from ironing iron. Strangely, a little more cocoa.
    • Taste
In the peppery onset is also plum with it. The berries are much lighter in taste. More like raspberries and redcurrants. Act fresher also by taste. Some licorice and a dry grassy note. Also here in the taste something metallic. Tastes a bit like dry blood. Almonds and espresso. The alcohol is already noticeable here.
    • Finish
Rather long and bitter. Espresso, men's chocolate and a dry berry flavor.

    • Nose
      90 90
      Fruity, extreme cherry flavors.
    • Taste
      91 91
Very sweet, the cherry remains, heavy fruit notes, dried fruit, marzipan
    • Finish
      90 90
Long-lasting cherry notes, sweet candy remains. Top
