Whisky Reviews for Kilchoman 2014
6 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.69 points
- Sulphurous and nutty port. Just my type. Plus it's a kilchoman, extra point!
- Here, the full port wine load pushes first into the nose, red berries and subliminally dried plums, followed by the strong Kilchoman smoke. In taste, I find it a bit more complex, here are still spices such as cinnamon and some pepper added. Smoke notes and echoes of spices remain in the mouth after swallowing. He can hide his youth well, as usual from Kilchoman. Complex is not this whisky. He is straight and intense, you get here the full port and smoke load! If you like it, like me, then that's just right!
- Powerful and tasteful!
Lovely and big nose in which the peat combines great with the sweet port cask influence. Dark red fruits, baked nuts and powdered spices. More spice and oak influence appear when water is added. It sure changes the game here. Quite vibrant!
Rather strong on the alcohol. Youthfulness is very present here. This can handle water like a champ. The water does make it more accessible and less Restless.
A long, smokey, peaty and oaky. At the end heavily fruity remains. This is pretty good stuff!
I might not empty a full bottle of this expression but it sure is tasteful. And, considering it’s age, it’s far from bad. I just prefer my dram a little less youthful and restless. For me, that is the weak part here. When water is added this whisky does come to you.
