    Notes from a blind tasting.

Difficult candidate, almost bulky. At least nothing that can be enjoyed on the side. Adding water helps the nose, but it is not good for the mouthfeel.
The nose is still quite pleasant, but the oak-heaviness is not my thing.
    • Nose
I have dark fruits, nuts, something sour, hardly any malt, only very subtle oak spice. Alcohol is well integrated, creating a cooling mint freshness, but there is still something hot in the background that I cannot describe in more detail. Not glue, not smoke, perhaps like a fruit brandy that is too young.
A few drops of water bring out nice fruit aromas.
After a while, in the empty glass, it smells of cocoa and dark chocolate.
    • Taste
Briefly sweet, then very tart on the tongue. Sour and tingling, after a few seconds a woody feel comes through.
Water reinforces this impression, which then becomes bitter.
    • Finish
Medium length, predominantly dry and astringent.

    Stowaway #2 by "the Caskens"

Highly polished wood, subtle mineral notes, vibrantly waxy, crystalline citrus aromas interwoven with lilac blossoms, warming orange with a hint of apricot, milk chocolate with roasted hazelnuts, somewhat dusty, subtle plum - a hint of sourdough and carbonic acid

Orange TicTac, subtle plum, crystalline oak and citrus aromas - looks old - deliciously dense thickened tree sap - slightly astringent, tannin-heavy

later clearly dried figs, laurel, sunflower straw, green twigs, good pepper and herbs on the finish

Looks dense, old, noble - undiluted - the nose delivers stably and never collapses - it is perfect without water, bites a bit but I had little distillate the last few days - something between 44-50% in CS - refill sherry or I think sherry finish/vatting is just as possible as a dark EX BC Cask - the boundaries are fluid here - citrus rather BC chocolate rather sherry - I'd guess 20yo+ - I can't find any peat
