Whisky Reviews for St. Kilian 2016
3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 83.60 points
- It really is a mystery to me how you can rate this malt with currently almost 88 points (!) On average. Some people are already aware that one should not rate any ominous "potentials", but the actually existing malt? And he's young, immature, unbalanced. Who rated this with 88 points and more, should be happy with a bottle of flavored vodka, taste or not.
At first glance, quite young and sprightly, but this impression is quite fast. Behind it as with many other young Malts from fancy wine / sherry / rum / whatever - barrels a pleasant fruit note, which, however, looks rather overstated. Not bad, but quite arbitrary and interchangeable. One has the feeling of having had it a hundred times in the glass, be it at Mackmyra, Penderyn or other distilleries who work with young malts from "special" barrels.
At the end of the day a light Haribo strawberry note. I really like it now!
About the high alcohol content, he can not hide, which is already very strong in the start. This mixes again with a nice fruit sweetness, which unfortunately does not come quite as strong as in the nose. Otherwise, as before - all very superficial and fleeting, with an unpleasant sour-dry woody note.
Here, the youth is finally going through. Hardly worth mentioning, variety of flavors absolute nil. Instead, a youthful touch that I do not like.
