In my opinion, this Armorik is easy to drink, I find it delicious. It is sweet, has a nice Oloroso note, but is not overloaded and fruity.
    • Nose
A sweet note, with notes of sherry and wine in tow. In addition, malt and fruits such as plums and oranges, as well as marzipan with fruit filling, pastries and cakes.
    • Taste
A strong start with pepper and a sweetness that doesn't dominate. Wine notes and a maltiness with a dry mouthfeel that later turns oily. A strong tingling spreads in the mouth, as does the taste of orange peel.
    • Finish
Short and warm, somewhat woody and fine leather. Marzipan, again with orange peel and the accompanying tingling. the farewell will be a bit bitter.

Caramel. Sweetness. Wax. Spices. Berries. Red and dark. Some tannins. Black pepper. Hot pepper. Some oak.

This is my first Armorik, which is below expectations for me. While the aroma is very decent, the mouth and the finish leave a lot to be desired. Nothing happens in these two elements, it is even a bland whisky. Flat, bitter, leaving nothing behind that could be remembered.

And one more little problem, I don't know about the others, but the stopper is very loose in my bottle.
    • Nose
      78 78
sweet, expressive, cherries, pears, sugar syrup, suede, polished oak,
    • Taste
      77 77
sweet with a bitter accent, milk candies, cherry jelly, a bit of oak and herbs, mint
    • Finish
      77 77
medium, slightly peppery, with oak at the end

Definitely not the best introduction to an interesting distillery.
    • Nose
Immature and aggressive. Heavily sherried, but the wood from the new casks mostly takes over the nose, which flattens out rather too quickly.
    • Taste
Bites hard. Heavy sherry quickly sinks into the young oak. Not much going on here, as expected from the nose.
    • Finish
Naturally quite short. Not enough sherry, too much young and dry oak.

Final thoughts: you can't expect to make a good whisky when it's both this young and from such blatantly unseasoned casks. Adding a minus to a minus doesn't make a plus. I am usually a fan of 46 ABV releases, but here it actually seems detrimental to the palate proper. This would have certainly been better at a mere and gentle 40. Unfortunately this release is a hard pass for me. I'm sure they can do much better to represent the French whisky industry than this. I will be looking forward to trying their 10.

    Nice aroma.
    Young wood, some vanilla,
    almost like pancakes.

    Not very fruity.
Rather a bit spicy and slightly bitter.

    Not the blast,
but it doesn't cost anything either.
    Quite ok for the price.

sherry casks used 4 times maximum:
distillate 5 years in single cask:
nose quite fruity, rather macerated on sherry, glue and spices
the palate is rounder, revealing nuts, soaked raisins and prunes, a little oxidative, peppery spices and a little cinnamon in addition to vanilla.
back cereal, a little too much on cooked fruits
the finish keeps the same scents with a woody dryness and very / very marked fruits.

A nice entry level single malt in the Armorik core range, but it lacks a bit of complexity due to its young age, and the cask may have had a bit too much influence over the spirit.
    • Nose
      79 79
Very fruity, with figs, prunes, and red fruits, but not very expressive.
    • Taste
      83 83
The first hit is spicy, with cinnamon and a slight touch of ginger. The mouthfeel gets really creamy over time. Notes of dried fruits appear mid-palate and it evolves towards the bitterness of dark chocolate. The sherry is quite strong and maybe a bit overpowering.
    • Finish
      79 79
Medium long, the finish is slightly drying, on peppered chocolate.
