  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

A very zesty a-typical Old Pulteney from the 1970's. Rare and delightful.
    • Nose
Complex astringent malty nose with bourbon vanilla sweetness and spring flowers. Citric notes of lemon and lime. Orange peel. Gooseberries as well. Whiff of smoke at the background.
    • Taste
Quite creamy. Kiwi fruit and peel-zest with icing sugar sweetness. Also dried coconut and ripe bananas. Later on more on cedar wood and burnt toast. Aniseed and some ginger. The palate reminds me of the typical fat Rare Malts oiliness.
    • Finish
Quite dry. White pepper. Lots of liquorice with a nice juicy fizziness.

PULTENEY 1977-2006 29yo DUNCAN TAYLOR PEERLESS COLLECTION # 3076 55.9% one of 205 bottles · Fragrance: strong oily such as butter, vanilla, green apple, honey, grapefruit cotton, dried morti, ginger, pistachio · Taste: From an oily taste to a comfortable Morti. Slightly spicy. The nuance of the tide, the grapefruit cotton, the crispy sweetness like the black tea and the honey is comfortable, the somewhat smooth feeling, the umami component is dense, there is a little peat feeling. Medium body. · Reverberation: sweetness of honey and oily and long reverberation. A buttery feel like staying in your mouth. · Water addition: Grapefruit and green apples are strengthened, and a little peat comes out. Oily becomes calm and balance improves. The sweetness of honey is firm. · Overall rating: Oily and tidey, sweet like honey. House style is solid, but after aging for 29 years grapefruit-like fruity etc. are added and it becomes complicated. http://www.whiskylink.com/?p=18685
