It starts of very fresh, fruity and sweet, very attractive. Most of this returns in the body, but in the finish the alcohol takes it over, leaving predominantly bitterness in the mouth. Pretty disappointing, wich puts down the overall rate with a few points.
    • Nose
      87 87
Fresh fruity nose, citrus, orange, pear, some peach. Also some light sweet notes, vanilla. Pretty much alcohol. Grassy, hay. Honey as well, and later on some caramel.
    • Taste
      86 86
Pretty soft and smooth at first, with a slight tickering mouthfeel. Sweet and fruity, peach, orange, tangerine. And some honey and caramel.
    • Finish
      82 82
Now it's getting stronger, with some bitterness that's getting more and more prominent. Drying mouthfeel, alcohol too dominant in the finish now, with an overwhelming bitterness that puts all other flavours to the back. Some wood influence perhaps.

  5. topos did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

a nice young lossie with plenty of substance. my feeling is as if the barrel has added some nice guiacols and vanillins but perhaps recharred wood is not so subtractive? is that a thing? there's just a brightness here that is some kind of modality of immaturity 6/10
    • Nose
quite buttery, even butterscotch, candied apple slices and sour apple candies, vanilla.
    • Taste
up front it's slightly sooty (that rechar showing I suppose), then butterscotch and bright juicyness with tangerines and starfruit then turning effervescent and a little earthy. quite some development and richness here.
    • Finish
      medium-long
