I live in the hope that such sweetheart will come out as ELSBURN.

Simply delicious. Raisin, orange, caramel, milk chocolate, peach, wood, great estate with solid PLV.

  2. whisky313 did not rate this whisky Specialist

After the dispute with the SWA (Scotch Whisky Association) last filled with an old name.
Further productions of the non-smoky distillate are billed under the name ELSBURN.

Finest sherry whisky. In the blind tasting, friends said it was a Glendronach or Edradour.

Excelent barrels. Very intense nutty sherry pleasure.

Not more, but no less points has earned this great single malt.

It's a pity because of the name, but nice that it will generally go on with the quality. Whether Elsburn or Glen Els I do not care as a connoisseur, I actually think the new name even better.
Due to the BURN (German BORN for Quelle) it is a bit more German and yet it is far enough away from what often comes in this bottle in the bottle (with the exception of the Kilianer and a few smaller others) :)

The substance itself is beautiful rosy, oily, spicy, balanced, just delicious and dangerous "easy to drink".

This is the last Distillery Edition with the name "Glen Els". Later bottlings will be sold under the new name "Elsburn".
The Last Edition is very comparable to the previous one. Sure, it's a NAS bottling but totally worth the price imo. Good quality casks are expensive these days...

Starting with plums, dates and other typical dried fruits, sweet sherry, some spices like cinnamon and even leather.
Later then more sweet sherry with a hint of fresh fruits.
    • Taste
      90 90
Also very sherried oc, spices - but not very sharp, oak, some more dried fruits, chocolate and a subtile mint taste. The 45.9% vol. fits it perfectly without being too "sharp".
    • Finish
      89 89
Medium to long finish - actually more on the long side (the way I see it).
Spices are staying in the mouth so does the oak and dried fruits.
Reminds me somehow of christmas. What a nice dram!
