Fresh-fruity-spicy blended malt, which I like very much. Reminds me from afar of the Clynelish WID: 121497 and is really expressive for "only" 46.9%!

Dried figs, heather honey, fruit slices, white pepper. Somewhat reserved at first, but with more time and warmth but squeaky clean and very balanced.

Fat oily, delicious! With apricots, honey and a portion of gunpowder, which would probably drive hs305 away, but leaves me refreshed. Spicy, but also with ripe wild strawberries, which ensure balanced fruit acidity.
Yes, there is definitely a decent Glenrothes stake in it.

The reverberation is not immensely long, but it is very pleasant: fine, tingling wood notes, but still acidic yellow-orange fruits are cut and mixed with fig sauce to form a delicious paste :)

    Warm Marmalade
Oh, look, here is another one of those secret blends of which numerous cask have appeared lately. They are all good, so I presume this one will be of the same ilk. Let’s find out. This release was only 78 bottles strong.
The nose bursts with dark fruit in a warm marmalade with plums and raisins in the lead, followed by lovely notes of coffee, hazelnuts and chocolate. After a few moments some sniffing tobacco and mocha kick in. Very seductive, mind you.
On the palate it presents itself as very sweet, but also feisty on spices. It turns a tad bitter as if from fresh grapefruit and some oak that takes care of balance. In the meantime some honey appears to douse the pepper and nutmeg somewhat. Liquorice and cinnamon appear. This is nicely balanced and very broad. Wow!
The finish is lovely long, warm, spicy and heartwarming.
There are still a few bottles available on their website. And just 90 EUR which is a steal for this quality. Put it under your Christmas tree.

a very tasty blend. Wonderful interplay of sweet and sour fruit notes. I really like it.
    • Nose
nice fruity nose, dried fruits, figs, a little sharpness, pepper
    • Taste
Quite a strong fruity start, again the dried fruits, but also apricots, berries, becoming a bit sour, slightly oily.
    • Finish
nice fruity sweet finish at the beginning, again the dried fruits, oak, later becoming bitter and sour

A more-than-solid drinker, and very good value considering the age (especially when you consider the likely HP/Mac/Rothes/Tamdhu pedigree).
Stylistically more of a muscular Highlander than a fragrant-floral Speysider.
I'd wager you could trick quite a few discerning maltheads into thinking this was a similarly-aged Glenfarclas drawn from refill sherry butts.

Ticks a lot of boxes: waxy-fruity-floral-spicy, with the considerable age showing immediately on the nose. Contains a good dose of refill-sherry-matured malts, which provide a warm, christmas-spice feeling, but the ex-bourbon components are palpable as well, lightening and freshening things up just enough for this to remain lively and complex. Wild berries, honey, herbs, waxes and oils, lots of umami (game & dark sauces), wood spices and barley sugars. Neither the spirits nor the casks are taking prominence, which I like a lot.

Great body for the strength. I've always found Glenfarclas, Macallan and Glenrothes to share common ground in a certain, je-ne-sais-quois "substantial, savory spiciness" (for lack of a better term), and this is a good example. It's rather big-boned and syrupy, but also spicy and well-oaked. To my mind, there are no sulphuric casks involved here; if anything, there's some spirit sulphur (yielding the above-mentioned meatiness) that is a Glenrothes hallmark.
    • Finish
      87 87
Warming, with herbal/honeyed cough lozenges, dark/bitter chocolate and tart berries (redcurrant, blackberry).

Rumor has it that this expression is composed of Macallan, Glenrothes and Highland Park...
