- [October, 2013] Finally I emptied bottle no. 488 that I bought for 79 Euro in September, 2006.In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 85. My notes state "nothing special about it"...
- Score: 88 points Nose: Citrus fruits, herbs, a lot of vanilla, menthol, many fruits, peach Taste: sharp pungent antrite, with lots of sweetness, vanilla, honey, fruity, very pleasant in the mouth, does not need water Finish: nuts, walnuts, vanilla, spices Verdict: great Trinkmalt, round and well balanced, tasteless.
- Not a grand
Strathmill, if you ask me. And whatever you do, do not add water!
The nose is light and
very clean, but a bit weird. The sweetness is unnatural. A bit sour too. It is
hard to pin a fruit on it, unless maybe some pear and unripe pineapple. I am
also reminded of cooked vegetables. Carrots and potatoes. Weird, no? Halfway
through some oat appears. All of it very light and it does not improve with
The arrival is
alcoholic and peppery. Mint makes it fresh. Now I do get some fruit on the
palate, mostly lemon, zest included. The pears return, joined by apples. There
is a nice bit of woodsmoke there. Midpalate it becomes honeysweet with a
truckload of honey and vanilla. Diluted it turns a bit bitter and emphasizes
the chemical sweetness.
The finish is not
short, but not long either. The mint has the final word.
- A very strange whisky. Nervous nose, harsh and sharp palate. Completed unbalanced.
Light and clean. Cucumber and cooked vegetables. Burnt matches and rubbery. Hints of smoke. Strange industrial nose.
Fresh with a spicy peppery edge. Lemon and sweet yellow apples. Some oak. Zesty. Also vanilla and honey. Cloves and mint.
Medium long. Bitter-sweetness. Menthol.
