Whisky Reviews for Bowmore 1994 AD

N: Sublime and distinctive madeira & iced lemon cake and a series of other confectionary delights.
T: This one leads to a super-sherried sticky-sweet mouthfeel as if I’d just filled my mouth with toffees and a spoonful of creme brulee with all the topping.
F: Corn syrup-sweet, turning slightly less sweet towards a long slightly waxy, barley faithful conclusion.
C: A violet-less Bowmore, this is liquid-cake in a glass from a unique sherry refill.
- People with low sulfur tolerance will certainly not be able to lure this whisky from behind the oven, maybe even repel it. My tolerance threshold is higher, sometimes sulfur is also a welcome additional component, which increases the complexity or simply gives the extra kick. And that's exactly how I feel here. A really nice malt, which has given me pleasure for almost an hour now. That's how it should be!
Significantly sulfur, which initially dominates, in my opinion, but very well with the rest of the flavors, as there were: disinfectant, cold smoke, dark caramel, malt candy and moist rock. Approaches to sweet dried fruit and sea air. The nose at least is very consistent! With a lot of time, clear woody notes emerge, while the smoky notes increasingly refer to living fire. Although he does not need time, he knows how to use it. First, heat up a lot of acid before it gets a lot sweeter. Also the ashiness increases. Pretty complex nose! For my taste also very consistent, well spent time.
This impression continues in the mouth. A great flavor conglomerate, harmonious, well-balanced, pleasantly oily mouthfeel, strong onset, simply beautiful. Ash at the beginning, followed by block malt, then a splash of lemon juice, then it is sweet again, behind salty oak, almost tannin-free.
In the finish, it first dries off, before it gets sweeter again and leaves plenty of ash on the tongue at the end. He warms up significantly.
