For me a great mature Blair Athol with style and effect.
Fruity-intensive nose, with wood oil, sliced Berlepsch apples and lilac blossoms plus an entire blooming summer mountain meadow.
Lilac blossom oil, freshly chewed beech leaves (yes, there are definitely tannins), and hints of Glen Scotia woodsmoke with candied ginger. Strong, but also very balanced mouthfeel. Over time, a fruit salad that subtly creeps in with honeydew melon, pineapple and grapefruit.
Tannins out to the back, but the fruit and wood hints give an interesting longer interplay.
Furniture polish or waxed older country house planks are also included.
