fruity and fresh on the nose, but without appearing "young"; the rum then presses enough additional fruit into it.
I think the nose is great. The taste is then malty and fruity; the phenolic peat BBQ smoke turns into a (cold) ashy smoke. Gets drier out the back.
    [86 - 82 = good whisky -> get (second) bottle? Maybe...]
    sample is enough for me.
You can buy one for less than 40 euros, but you don't have to; over 40 euros: save the money.
    • Nose
      86 86
phenolic smoke, light fruity. With a little time to breathe, tropical fruits come through: papaya, mango, pineapple, as well as the tart note of red grapefruit.
It can't deny the rum finish, but it doesn't come across as overpowering, but goes harmoniously with the other light fruits.
The smoke also has something of grilled pineapple, so also the slightly sweet aroma of caramelized sugar with leftover BBQ on the grate. The embers are already turning to ashes.
    • Taste
      83 83
first spice, then a peppery spice with herbs, the ashy smoke is back; some malt on the tongue; the fruits from the nose can also be heard.
2nd Sip: very malty again; the rum finish is noticeable; the spice and herbs can be felt again on the tongue; hardly any difference to the first Sip.
    • Finish
      81 81
cold ashy smoke, tobacco; the mouth becomes completely dry. Oak spice somewhat delayed.
After the second sip comes a long-delayed squib moment; not very pronounced, but a miss for me; luckily it doesn't last that long and the smoke comes back.

Young, ok, finishing in a rum barrel helped, you can drink, but the question is why?)

Super PLV, very nice aroma, but weakens a bit in the finish.
Similar to the "Rum Rebel", but the Rebel has more smoke in the aroma, is significantly sweeter in taste and not as earthy. If you like it sweet, you should grab the Rebel. If you like more peat, you should go for the riot.
    • Nose
Wonderful Islay smoke with rum aroma, stings, sweetness, baked banana, honey, wood
    • Taste
first a huge gush of peat, earthy, strong, heavy salivation, soft
    • Finish
Rather flat and unobtrusive, the smoke only lingers on the palate

The Smokehead Rum Riot Limited Edition comes from the independent distillery Ian Macleod. Aged in rum casks, the whisky combines popular smoky notes with the sweetness of Caribbean rum, revealing notes of pear candy, honey and banana. The Rum Riot variant was bottled for the travel retail sector and has an ABV of 43.0%. slightly less alcohol than the Rum Rebel with 46.0% vol.
    • Nose
Smoke and peat notes, sweet bananas and pineapple as well as BBQ notes.
    • Taste
Sweet smoke and citrus, spices and a salty marine note.
    • Finish
Long finish, oak, grilled bananas and bacon.

I don't like the rum finish badly, but unfortunately it has too little alcohol and therefore looks pretty watery and thin.

Interesting, smooth and delicate peated whisky. Flavor I really reach and combines elements of Islay whisky and something fully-fruity and delicious. Notes of tropical fruits and citric are really strong and sensitive. So in my opinion it is a good value for its price.
    P.S. Is it Laphroaig?
    • Nose
      88 88
Smoked peat, citruses, caramel, mango, banana wrapped into light notes of acetone, iodine and oak wood.
    • Taste
      85 85
Smoother than nose but echoes it opening delicate notes of smoked peat, roasted barley, smoked meat with sweet malt hints.
    • Finish
      84 84
Smoked peat with caramel, banana, pear, honey.

The rum and smoke aromas harmonize very well. The nuttiness in the finish surprises in a positive sense.
    • Nose
Cold ashes and extinguished campfires are instantly on the nose, plus grassy-fresh peat and heather. Creamy-sweet exotic fruits spread like bananas, pineapples, physalis and honeydew melon. The rum finish is noticeable.
    • Taste
Cold peat ash in the mouth, then sweet rum and creamy blossom honey, with pineapple, banana and vineyard peach.
    • Finish
The finish is creamy and nutty with coconut, vanilla and almond. Finally, seaweed and a wet campfire with smoked fish.

£22 in duty free. Highly recommendable, certainly for that price and even reasonable for the rrp of£45. Islay tastes evident with sweetness coming through.
    • Nose
Sweetness, candy floss/ toasted marsh mallows. Peat, vanilla and nut traces as well as banana and other fruits
    • Taste
Sweetness from the rum cask. Peat, leather, apple and and smoke
    • Finish
Pleasant. Definite feel of islay. Feels strong for a 43%.

Intense yellow sweetness, almost candied with a nice bonfire smoke and ashes. Jelly bananas, some mango, vanilla and a very pleasant harmonious nose. Tropical fruits in honey with a tone of leather. The rum note is beautiful in this tropical smoke cocktail. Here and there, despite the 43% vol.Alk. the alcohol. Works fresher then.
    • Taste
      86 86
In terms of taste, the sweetness is back first, before the smoke reappears here as well. A dryness is noticeable at the beginning, but then goes back again. Salt and maritime notes join in and show the origin more clearly. Something wood but then somehow everything next to each other, not with each other. Yes rum, recognizable, yes Islay but I still do not feel a total work. Unfortunately, the fruits are less wine-tasting and do not show themselves so clearly for a long time. A touch of bitterness and leather will remain on the palate.
    • Finish
      86 86
For me personally too weak, from Islay the south coast I'm much more used. Some sweet rum ash remains.
