Gooseberry and vanilla very cleanly on first sniff. Then soft creamy oak, lemon and ginger. Underneath is that typical HP maritime peat with salt and moss.
With water: Gets softer and creamier, leather polish, fresh paint, salt spray on old jetty wood. The smoke rises more prominently now with hints of bacon or smoked ham.
Vanilla, bitter oak, creme brulée, spicy ginger, peat and a little bit of lemon juice - pretty consistent with the nose.
With water: Sweeter now and more different wood oils coming out, ginger is softer now, almost towards smoked king prawn in a lemon ginger marinade!
Gooseberries return, smoked ham lingering for a good while in a soily, slightly musty stack of old firewood. Very pleasant departure.
