Soft vanilla lemon cake with peach jam, honey, fruit marmalade and spicy wood.

    RATING: 81pts - [n21,t21,f19,b20] → |80-82: Ordinary|

Sweet, light fruity, citrus and vanilla. Tart citrus peel in the mouth, crisp, nice start. The finish tart, some oak, citrus. Rather short. Light, young sommet dram that is beautifully composed. Nothing is too young there, but easy drinking of course. Nice entry-level that tastes good.

  3. Robinzon25 scored this whisky 75 points Expert Senior

Primitive, unripe, rough whisky. Not worth the money spent.
    • Nose
Simple, malty, with notes of foliage and young bark.
    • Taste
Sharp enough. Bread, salted caramel, tannins.
    • Finish
Short, dry, too malty, sweet-salty. In the end, an unpleasant oak bitterness remains.

Usually appreciating the malts of Arran, I was quite skeptical about its new core range and especially about this one, easily to introduce as an entry level NAS. But the first sip is enough for changing my mind and confirm the good work of the distillery.
Of course, it's clearly a young malt, yet very well balanced and rich of apple, lemon and banana flavour. The alcohol is powerful but not overwhelming and quite soon revealing a distinctive salty taste, with caramel and some spice, for a surprising complexity, related to the young age.
Very good quality for the money: entry level, ok, but not as predictable as it could seem and with a remarkable maritime feeling.

    Blind tasting.
Noticeable on the nose: In any case straight bourbon maturation, I do not suspect an age.
Region: difficult ... rather not Speyside, guess Islands, Scapa or Arran ... rather Scapa because of the sweetness

Rating maybe a bit hard after knowing the price. Price is fair

Citrus, apple, young? No alcohol noticeable. Something fresh. Mint?
    • Taste
      82 82
Very sweet, apple, orange, cocoa, some wood spice
    • Finish

Amazingly dry in contrast to the taste - citrus / grapefruit, spices. Short! Unfortunately there is also something that reminds me of glue.
