Feìs Ìle 2020 at the pond of the Gleann Bhùile
We virtually enjoy a special bottling from the Bun na h-Abhainn distillery:

The first impression: sherry dominates the nose and mouth. After that, the smoke prevails very clearly, a smoke that smells a little like damp campfire wood and becomes more intense from sniffing to sniffing.
The alcohol is so subtly integrated that you hardly perceive the almost 58 percent as such.
... and the empty glass releases its scents. Intense and clear.

So this Staoisha takes some time to develop the smoke, which then makes a beautiful and interesting wedding with the sherry.
Tasty and highly recommended, but if you don't already have it, you probably won't get it anymore. With such drops you are always happy to see what a good hand the independent bottlers almost always have.

Enjoy your individual dram today and think together about the feeling, which is very different this year than usual. Logical!

    Stay healthy!

Looks more mature and older than he is. The barrel did a great job. I am really surprised by this bottling.
1 point more because I almost didn't think that this was a barrel strength. Alcohol is well integrated.

The whole thing leaves me a little incredulous. Of course you notice the youth and also the lack of maturity. Above all, it is emphasized on one side of the barrel. But easy to drink and simple but delicious!

Very spicy and strong nose. The Oloroso is not hiding. But the whole thing is on the spicy herbal side. Even a bit bitter. The smoke is only slightly noticeable in the background. Where's the alcohol? Noticeable. No stinging, no biting. No menthol either. With the strength? Abgefahren!
    • Taste

The smoke can then be perceived vigorously in the mouth. The start also makes it clear that this is about barrel strength but again: no burning, no biting. Incredible. The herbal penetrates fully. A little dark fruit always vibrates with it but very discreetly. Most of this takes place on the facade. It's a bit of a shame. But probably also due to the fact that such a young distillate has turned into something so good. Then you need active barrels.
    • Finish
      84 84
The smoke now covers the entire mouth and it gets peppery on the tongue. Fruits still flash here, but always overlaid with menthol and sweet pipe tobacco.
