Whisky Reviews for BenRiach 2013 GtDr

- Benriach 5 year old (Great Drams) 46.2%. Single cask 2013. 213 bottles produced. Aroma is mega banana toffee. Banana bread with toffee sauce. Quite sweet. Slight coffee notes. Taste is light, oily, paraffin, super unique, midway between new make and a solid whisky with intriguing aspects of both. Hard to rate. Tastes unfinished yet rounded. Tastes like it's not yet a proper whisky but is instead a good example of whatever intermediate product it is. Plasticky banana notes. I find this interesting. I am conflicted about how much I like it but I still think it probably has enough for a score of (3.1/74).
- A very clean tasting spirit where the complexity builds - a decent, rather than a great dram.
Quite dry on the nose with some herbal notes starting to come through.
A very clean tasting spirit - very light in taste with some dry sweetness at first, followed by a hint of spice.
The finish carries on long after swallowing - the taste becomes more complex the longer it lingers.
