Nice nose. Combo of vanilla, honey and a subtle smokeyness
    • Taste
      82 82
A little disappointing after the nice nose. A bit too soft on impact, probably because of the low %.
    • Finish
      85 85
Finish is dry with pepper. Medium in length but definately longer than expected after the slightly disappointing taste.

    Aroma:
Smoke, sherry, vanilla, honey, raisins, fruits.
    Taste:
    Sherry. Dryness. Oak. Smoke.
Very good 15 year old whisky. Price quality level. Score 87, better than good, but falls short of excellent.

Smoke, sherry, vanilla, overripe banana, honey, raisin
    • Taste
      82 82
Sherry, light smoke. Then he gets drier and he starts to salivate.
    • Finish
      85 85
The smoke gets a little stronger. Oak. Mint becomes clearer. The smoke lingers for a very long time and becomes more and more campfire smoke.

Appearance: Medium to deep amber orange.

Nose: Honey, vanilla, light campfire smoke, malt sugar, raisin, sherry, light stone fruits

Palate: A bit more smoky, quite a bit of iodine, grain. Tannic oak.

Finish: Honey, malt, pepper, alcohol. Iodine.

With Water: Slightly mellower, less bitter, a bit more waxy.

Overall: Unique and somewhat strange. Not super peaty or smoky, but quite a bit of iodine and also tannins. Bitter finish is a bit unpleasant. Overall decent but a bit simple.

  6. Officer Hadley scored this whisky 73 points Member Senior

Aroma: sherry and vanilla. In addition, spicy ginger, oranges, menthol and chamomile.

Taste: fruity and tasty. Plum compote, apple and kiwi.

    Finish: medium long.

Barrel type: Bourbon and sherry barrels

The Benromach distillery has added another bottling to its regular range. This 15-year-old is adding an older single malt to the previous offering. It was matured in bourbon and sherry barrels, which gave it a great color.
