Nose: BANG -Genial, old Talisker! Maritime notes, fat and mature, tropical fruits (papaya and passion fruit), subtle peat, caramel and honey sweetness sprinkled with sea salt, vanilla pudding, licorice notes and a large piece of bog oak Taste: full and velvety, fruity, thick, sea breeze, and quite clear peat smoke in the interplay with strong oak Finish: very long with light chilicate, dry peat, maritime, fruity, ingenious interplay between salt and sweetness Water? Are you crazy? Conclusion: Wow, just WOW. That's what whisky should be like. Here, Malt tells you a wonderful story of one day in late summer on the island of Skye. Always with a breeze from the sea in the face, peat bogs, oak forests and an orchard protected by dry stone walls, with a caramel candy in the mouth and the chili from the lunch is still burning. Too bad, such malts are not made today. He had just the time to tire he needed. On any sherry, port or other knickknack barrels can easily do without. Who else wants the NAS Plörre, who brings out the Brennrei now? Yes, the marketing department knows how to tell beautiful stories. But you have to, yes, if the malt itself has nothing to say. But this is simply in the glass and speaks for itself. THANKS, Chancellor, just a great malt - 92 points

    sample.

Everything great except for the extreme pepper. It slightly spoils the otherwise perfect balance. Besides, this one is still available at the Kanzler's shop as of March 2017.
    • Nose
Initially quite woody. It fades away though. Then some peppery chocolate and a mild note of roasted coffee beans. A little phenolic and mossy. Nice olive oil note. Kind of hard to nose because the cask notes are so well interwoven with a subdued peaty character. A great nose though.
    • Taste
Same thing on the palate. It's like a an amazing mix of everything peaty where nothing stands out. Salt at first, then some earth, moss. The arrvial is very dense and soft, but somewhere in mid palate it gets louder with chocolate and then extreme pepper of doom.
    • Finish
Very long. The pepper persists. Phenolic, mossy after taste mixed with woody notes.

Super delicate, nice balance and good complexity.
    • Nose
Old and classy stuff. The wood influence is wonderful. A coastal first impression, with a fresh sea breeze and the gentlest amount of peat smoke.  Lots of fruit. Peaches, passion fruit, and prunes. A touch of tobacco leaves and menthol. Very delicate and superbly integrated.
    • Taste
More vibrant than I expected, with a decent hit of white pepper, as well as furniture polish, menthol and licorice. A good amount of wood shavings too. A hint of smoke, as well as some caramel, dates and sweet barley. Delicious stuff.
    • Finish
Long, leaning heavily on menthol, and some aniseed too. Lingering wood smoke.

Exceptional bottling by the famous Whisky Kanzler. His slogan is that whisky is made for drinking. This bottle shows exactly why (as opposed to collect them). Top notch.
    • Nose
Extremely pleasant, old and dignified. It's coastal, but very civilised. What strikes me is that the nose is very fruity, with passion fruit, papaya, peach and dried apricot. Then, there is peat, albeit very soft and smooth. Along comes some salt, like a sea breeze. The influence of the wood on the malt is exceptional, very polished, honeyed and on beeswax. Most interesting is this earthy and leafy side, with licorice, menthol and tobacco.
    • Taste
Oily and velvety, but nevertheless lively as well. It's in fact more coastal and earthy now. Shoe polish, soft peat, wood smoke, licorice, fennel, but also rich honeyed barley, menthol and dried fruit.
    • Finish
Doesn't get agressive and lasts very long. Stays rather earthy, which is a big plus in my book. Licorice, gentian, rather dry peat smoke, soft pepper and barley.
