Whisky Reviews for Unknown Islay 2006 BW

  1. Kantenmechaniker scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

It definitely fulfills the expectations in terms of the combination of smoke and port, but it doesn't shine, at times a bit unbalanced and edgy
    • Nose
Milk chocolate, roasted nuts, or Hanutawaffel, a little sweet cherry, not even that much smoke, rather subtle in the background, the basic taste is more sour than sweet, slightly chocolatey, over time it becomes creamier, there is also some biscuit dough a little bit of a cherry pie that comes fresh from the oven
    • Taste
oily, acidic, cherry, berries, chocolate, dark, not too smoky, rather so medium, then it becomes sweeter, almost sticky, light roasted aromas
    • Finish
now really sweet, cotton candy, ashy smoke, which is now also becoming clearer, ok, now we have arrived at Islay, grainy, some dark chocolate, nut, long-lasting

Asti Spumantes meets Prince von Metternicht. It smells extremely white sparkling wine
    • Taste
      88 88
Sparkling wine remains. With old cigarette. Grape juice. Orange blossom.
    • Finish
      83 83
Orange-reds are left hanging. Smoke very discreet. As with smoked ham

  6. nallacam scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

For me a classic Marco Bonn bottling.
Power and strength that lacks finesse. The Port Wine Barrel comes mainly in color and sweetness to the validity.
Probably a Südislay whisky and probably only Lagavulin would be an option.
