Whisky Reviews for Speyside Distillery 1996 Cl

- 23 year and sherry cask could be very heavy on the distillate. However this cask isn't as dominate and that's fine by me. There's still plenty room for delicate flavours and fresh fruity notes besides the obivious sherry and spices. Pretty complex and takes it time to develop.
A little shy for such a heavy 57% alcohol level. Not a sherry bomb at all. Sweetness in a very standard way. Caramel, vanilla, cream and toffee.
Than the first twist. like walking in a autumn forest. Dried old leaves, some ginger tea. A tiny bit of cloves with cinnamon. Still elegant.
The second twist is the fresh side. Oranges, lime and also mint.
That's easier than expected. Very little alcohol burn and again not that overwhelming. The autumn leaves and spicy notes from a sherry cask is quicker and more noticable than on the nose.
Still the twist is the fresh citrus side with again room for mint and fresh cut grass.
A warming and less complex ending. The sweet toffee/ vanilla cream is bigger with almonds and fruity tea.
