proper old-school nose.. old wood, old clothes, dried old fruit.. old heavy perfume.. old sherry that is so old it becomes dignified.. fruits without end.. outstanding! or better yet, oldstanding.

much pineapple.. apricot and raw honey.. moving into lemons, spice and earth
    • Finish

One may say that it is a single cask Glenfarclas.

For some reason, I am failing to detect any „old school“ qualities whatsoever. Or anything that stands out above the average.

Anyway, Cadenhead didn’t lie (have they ever?). It’s some light fruitiness to find. And that’s that.

I know, it was rather inexpensive. But I had plenty much younger (but older) vatted malts of various origin, that provided a better experience (including some proper oldschool mouth feel) at - mostly - much lower volume (and even costs).

    Not excited.

Cadenhead's Warehouse on the Road-Tasting in Cologne, January 24th, 2020.

    Color: old gold

It was so great at the end of the tasting, I would have taken an entire bottle home with me if there was anything else to get.
So he remains in my memory and serves as my knot in the handkerchief in relation to the Cadenhead Creations series, which I will now follow a little more attentively than in the past.

Mandarins, oranges, almonds, nuts, marzipan. Light and fruity, but with a full body.

Like the nose: oranges, almonds, marzipan. Soft, oily, creamy, full. Honey and heather, wood. Over time spices.
    • Finish
      88 88
Medium to long, spicy, light wood, orange peel, vanilla, honey, heather, caramel.

Immediate sweetness. Honey. Fresh fruits, followed by vanilla and a light spice. Oily mouthfeel.

Fruitiness continues, spices and slight oakines fades. Medium-long.

    Cadenhead says:

"A blended malt bottled from a single cask that was married together in 2004

NOSE: Juicy fruits, faint warming spices and apricot jam.

PALATE: Proper old school mouth feel, chewy and fruity with passion fruit, guava and blood orange.

FINISH: More chewy fruit with soft spice that fades away – a dram to savour"
