Whisky Reviews for Aberlour 24-year-old WhB

Very much vanilla. Rather little fruit (at most rhubarb). Instead, the aromas dominate all sorts of sugars, especially candy and stevia. In the nose still slight approach of vegetable broth. Also slightly perfumed.
On the palate and on the finish very intense and not too sweet, but just right. With a mild spiciness of sweet herbs or roots. Also slightly perfumed again.
This Aberlour has no acid at all. With a little more wood he would have gotten even better.

A nice, old and classically matured single malt. Aberlour from the ex-Bourbon Cask with this age does not exist often and certainly not for that price. Exciting is this finely defined spice note, the hoped for lush fruit notes are unfortunately missing.
    • Nose
Vanilla, malt, cane sugar, spices, menthol, mint, herbs, floral, mineral?
    • Taste
Spices, cumin, nutmeg, white pepper, vanilla pods, cranberries, aranzini, apricot jam, pineapple (grilled), star fruit! Kiwi? Menthol / mint, floral, grassy, dusty, waxy, old oak (library) and leather (Chesterfield). Earl Gray with lemon.
    • Finish
Spicy oak and spicy notes, subtle mineral, dusty, dry, less fruit. Vanilla.
