      First, a very dark sherry spills into the nose, dark inlaid raisins with an intense woody note with some polish. Alcohol you notice a bit. Clearly a change between the muted sweetness of fruit bread and wood and seasoning. This is accompanied by an interesting note of light sulfur and burnt. Super interesting, since I did not really expect that. Exciting!
    • Taste
      90 90
      I let the Glenburgie breathe for 30 minutes, which can not hurt after the opening. First, of course, how can it be otherwise, intense sherry, less sweet for it with strong, already anticipated seasoning with a strong start. Add a touch of sulfur and coffee. Fits fine. The whisky lays completely on the palate and offers much more sophistication than anticipated. Adding minimal water will make it really rounder and sweeter, overall a little milder and I'm very pleased with its zero bitterness. Despite only a middle age of 12, you already have clearly noticeable complex notes.
    • Finish
      89 89
      The finish is a long time with beautiful sherry, plus some coffee and dryness with a little wood fire.

    Actually, a whole nice malt.
    Tasty but rather nothing for me.
    Will probably try a second time.
    Priced but too ambitious.
    • Nose
      84 84
      Sweet with dark fruits and raisins.
      Slightly stinging unpleasant alk. Grade.
      After some time in the glass he becomes clearer. Oranges, ripe bananas, figs, some cinnamon come through. No stinging touch anymore.
      Every now and then something like dark spicy gravy.
    • Taste
      83 83
      Fruity, slightly sweet onset. Dark fruits, somehow tastes woody, dull, stale, with a slight peppery spice. Alcoholic it does not work here anymore.
    • Finish
      84 84
      Medium long finish, a bit bitter towards coffee, getting drier.
      Pfeffrig sharp note fades quickly.

    COLOR: copper / amber
    - he doesn't need a lot of water, but it definitely is
    - a very good complex 12 year old single cask whisky
    - it's worth it
    • Nose
      dry fruits, plum, raisins, oak, quite complex
    • Taste
      o. Water: strong yet quite massive step for 48%, oak, raisins, dates, figs, sweetish fruit notes;

      m. water: more pleasant to drink and the sweet aroma comes out better
    • Finish
      spicy aromatic intense medium-long finish; long, powerful aftertaste

    A very successful and aromatic bottling that shows what is possible in the 1st Fill Sherry Butt after 12 years!
    A great malt - if not overly complex!
    [Color:] = copper;
    • Nose
      87 87
      immediately heavy sherry aromas, figs, raisins, dark chocolate, spice, oak;
    • Taste
      86 86
      Powerful in the beginning, sherry, figs, dates, forest honey (subtle sweetness), dark chocolate, spices, pepper, oak (tannins); very aromatic;
    • Finish
      85 85
      medium-long and sparkling finish, sherry, oak (becomes increasingly bitter);

    Pretty strong whisky with some clear sherrycask influence. Not very complex, but just good and pleasant dram.
    • Nose
      86 86
      Fruity, raisins, some furniture polish. Some burnt nuts, prunes as well. Also some orange.
    • Taste
      86 86
      Pretty strong now, pepper. Sweet and fruity, raisins, some honey, orange, pretty full taste.
    • Finish
      85 85
      Still pickering, raisins, some fruitiness and a bit drying mouthfeel now. Middle long finish.

    No, this is not a dark, aged sherry. First of all, the vanilla stands out in the nose and despite the moderate 48.7% vol., The alcohol is noticeable. A good whisky, the 1st fill butt is not overwhelming - but it is also not too dominant.
    The whisky can tolerate a little water, which softens the alcohol and makes the whisky rounder.
    A good whisky, but overpriced around 15 euros. Kirsch is currently taking an ambitious price path.
    The whisky is good, but not exceptional. It lacks elegance and balance. The alcohol is too present, the oak is a bit too bitter. This can be mitigated with water. The 48.7% are therefore not the optimal filling strength.
    Conclusion: this whisky is good. This whisky is too expensive. This whisky is not bottled with the optimal drinking strength.
    Too bad, missed chance. Again one of the modern, overrated bottlings.

    Unusual sherry maturation with exciting floral notes that make the whole thing appear unexpectedly delicate and playful.
    The price is of course banana, otherwise you could almost get weak.
    • Nose
      88 88
      Interesting tightrope act between heavy, fat sherry (would tap on PX) and fine, floral aromas, which I now randomly attribute to the Burgie brandy. Also has something lime, mineral and a nice acidity in it, so that the rum raisin sweetness of the sherry barrel does not become too dominant. Looks very fine, elegant, somehow "old-fashioned" and therefore also older than 12 years.
    • Taste
      85 85
      As expected, a tightly woven sherry carpet over everything. Rum grape chocolate, raisins, dried figs, plum jam, coffee, sauna wood. Also noticeably floral here (almost sultry), otherwise fluctuates between sweet and tart, with less acid than in the nose.
    • Finish
      86 86
      Sherry, wood, cold coffee, but still these hints of floral scent.

    Disappointed as well as almost all bottlings of this series after the excellent first four bottlings. Had it better to be good then, but the "cash cow" must be milked.
    For Glenburgie - in the nose still quite pleasant, he can not match the taste. The low point is the woody and bitter finish, which does not give you any desire to pour it again.
