Whisky Reviews for Glenallachie 2008

The nose is absolutely tempting for a strawberry friend like me. In terms of taste, maybe a few more years would have been good for him, but then more oak bitterness would have come into play.
    • Nose
      91 91
Sugared strawberries, cherries, watermelon, fresh and fruity portnotes, the alcohol is quite present, but is quickly pleasant, subtle vanilla
    • Taste
      88 88
Extremely red-fruited onset, again dominant strawberries, nice onset, pinching to creamy mouthfeel, lots of warmth, some oaky spicy dryness
    • Finish
      90 90
The dryness disappears in the finish mostly, very sweet with pleasant oak bitterness, the red fruits and the creaminess remain nice on the palate

In the nose, this Glenallachie from nem Port Pipe is really extremely fruity. I can absolutely sign the strawberries from @schero. Also raspberries, apricot and slightly sour pineapple. The alcohol does not sting. An absolute fruit bomb.
In the mouth I think it is already a bit alcoholic. The youth you notice something, even though he is more mature than he actually is. I really like the sweet-fruity oiliness / creaminess in my mouth. Oak spice is there, bitterness only very subtly.
In the finish he is a bit bitter and astringent. However, it is also a bit slinky and metallic on the throat and cheeks.

Conclusion: Beautiful young Glenallachie, the Lokaldealer have pulled ashore, especially the fruit-aromas variety in the nose is impressive. Clear recommendation.
