A bit intellectual. Would love to have a few more ounces to slowly tease out its shy nuances.
A bit closed initially, but after a minute or so, definitely some good complexity.... sweet stone fruits, a bit of mead and subtle manuka honey. It's not very bright, and one needs to be a bit patient here.
Good ooomph... peppery. Strong stuff, a bit violent even, not just in the ABV but in the Mortlach distillate, which is usually a bit "heavy duty" or as some would describe, "muscular". Some sweetness, rather nondescript in that I can't pinpoint a single obvious fruit. A nice initial rush, but not much development as it stays on your tongue. Perhaps 2x refill sherry (gotta check later).
Lengthy finish, lingering pepperiness.
