Really does not seem like a port finish at all, far more like an approachable Oloroso butt; the notes, unfortunately, describe less the whisky than my reaction to the experience - this was sublime whisky. If I was the nitpick the nose is good but rather standard for good 20+ yo Glendronachs, and the finish could have been longer, but the delivery is great - an expensive cork-chucker.
powerful, warmed thick syrup, even tarry; tobacco, cherry, Xmas cake
fantastic mouth - seems so pleasant and sherry-like that it slips down unless you make a real conscious act to hold it in the mouth
medium; not the longest of finishes but oh so soft! Where is the wood? Not there for me and all the better for it
