  1. Boletus did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

At first glance, this whisky appears surprisingly fire-heavy. Initially, neither the color nor the aroma indicate a 1st fill bourbon barrel. Although the typical vanilla note and the toasty oak come to the fore more clearly through air access, the beautifully matured and very clean base brandy of ''Aultmore'' dominates here. Even if the oak is almost a bit too tame for me, the whisky is very pleasant and tasty.
    • Nose
Fairly beguiling, light fruit notes rise up into the nose embedded in a massive cloud of vanilla, ripe ''Williams Christ'' pear, crisp, fully ripe ''Golden Delicious'' apples, also yellow plums and apricots, the toasted oak is also present, but is surprisingly reserved , at the beginning there is also a small alcoholic tinge and makes the oak look freshly glazed, but this dissipates quite quickly, leaving behind a fresh herbal note with a certain cooling effect, some spearmint, maybe a little fresh chopped parsley, overall it appears to be quite fire-heavy, the longer it stays in the glass it becomes more and more vanilla
    • Taste
Sugary and sweet, the malt hits the palate, the clean fire hits the palate, sponge cake and meringue, then it becomes creamier with a little saliva and the fruitiness emerges, mainly the ripe apples and pears, but also brown-stained bananas, some apricots and a bit of unripe tangerine, the toasted oak is there, but it's almost playing hide and seek, vanilla and caramel also emerge from oblivion, the herbal notes reappear, a very light wintergreen note flashes through every now and then, the mouthfeel sometimes works a bit numb, like walking through a cloud of deodorant with your mouth open
    • Finish
Already almost as long, very gentle for the alcohol strength, now the barrel is showing, many toasted oak notes with a clear vanilla load and caramel in the luggage develop and play ping pong with the beautiful malty and slightly roasted moments, almost free of Bitter substances, some milk chocolate, a hint of mint, the aftertaste has something very pleasant and almost dessert-like about it, reminds me of panna cotta with preserved pear, also crème brûlée
