No Springbank smoke, no noticeable salt, but still very successful wood experiment
    • Nose
stunning port wine. Ripe red fruits (cherries, strawberries, raspberries), cooling but not stinging alcohol, vanilla, cotton candy. Sweetness becoming stronger with water
    • Taste
Sugar syrup, tingling alcohol, bitter orange, after-eight, brown sugar and dark oak. With water more dried fruit, peppery spice and bittersweet nut from the port (walnut).
    • Finish
Then it will rise again, then stay warm and dry in the throat

A disappointment. Beforehand I was pretty excited I got to try this whisky, but it just isn't very good. The nose is okay, I'll give 'em that much.
    • Nose
Leather and old books are followed by peanuts and peanut shells. Then some sweeter port notes appear, raspberry and cherries. Also a mineral aspect. Not very complex and a bit closed.
    • Taste
Prickly, lots of alcohol. Luckily also some pineapple and some sweeter red fruits. But it is bitter and a little bit dry. And the alcohol is just too present. Even adding ample water doesn't help.
    • Finish
Nothing very distinct here. Too short also.

  5. Wild Thing scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

Not a bad whisky, but the alcohol could be a little better involved.
    • Nose
Cake dough with plums, dark red cherries, chocolate and vanilla sugar. But also has something of fresh tarred road. All in all a very sweet nose with strong alcohol.
    • Taste
Rich, syrupy and sweet with a strong alcoholic touch. Followed by orange and dry fruits like cherries, raisins and plums. A little bit of oak tannins are also to taste.
    • Finish
Medium long, warm and spicy with a touch of chocolate.

This is a very good dram, but not very Springbank.
    • Nose
Rich port notes hit first. Red cherries. Sweet plums.
    • Taste
Alcohol. Sweet red fruits. Malty. Chocolate covered oranges. Bitters.
    • Finish
Long and sweet. Fruity and acidic. The port stays with you.
