- Candy in a bottle!

- I don't understand the low ratings, but maybe you really have to like this classical fruity woody bourbon maturation. It show great maturity for only 12 years old, I'm really enjoying this one, especially now that the bottle is about halfway through.
- Schone van Boskoop
I recently hosted a tasting and instead of just handing out whisky, I was also handed a bag full of samples by one of the participant. Well, he’s invited to the next tasting for sure. One of those samples was this young Glen Elgin, recently bottled by The Nectar from Belgium. I was told this this was a refill sherry cask, but you would not be able to tell from the color, considering how pale it is.
Typical sweet nose with lots of European fruit like peach, gooseberries, Schone van Boskoop (a lovely apple) and pears. There is also some dried grass and a dandelion. Spring in my glass.
That continues nicely on the palate, albeit without the grassy notes. This is fruity and slowly evolves towards candy)like. Hard candy. Peach and apple up front, but pineapple cubes appear in the back.
The finish is somewhat short, but silky soft.
Lovely daily dram with a very friendly price tag. Thanks, Benny!
- An interesting whisky for a fair price.
Probably completely matured in ex-Bourboncasks.
soft, fruity, green apples, pears, apricots, honey, vanilla;
creamy on arrival, honey, vanilla, apples, pears, compote, malt, very pleasant;
medium-length, creamy, soft finish; echoing for the first time oak;

- On the nose: pear, green apple with sweet red apple, stone fruit and a bit of peach.
On the palate: here we continue with apple keys and peach.
Aftertaste: the apple turns into a velvety mouthfeel of peach / apricot and a hint of ginger with bread malt.
