However, the Blair Athol would not have hurt a few years more experience at all. I find him very edgy and unbalanced. The ideal 46% also have a strong alcoholic effect. The sherry barrel shows little. After the first sip and some time in the air, beautiful and distinct, but rather ex-bourbon barrel ripening develop typical vanilla notes. Rather unexpected and inappropriate, but a nice consolation prize. All in all, the craftsmanship is of course not bad, but bottled too early and in the overall ranking simply out of round and not harmonious.
The barrel would have had potential - why not leave it for a few more years and pump it instead at the age of 8 years on the market? Especially since Blair Athol over 12 years, not much on the market anyway ... Too bad!
