Peaty ofcourse with notes of peat, smoke, ash and a fireplace. There is an earty note complemented by some peanuts. Sea-air and some salt. There is also a fruity tone of oranges.
    • Taste
      83 83
Again the peat, smoke, ashes and fireplace complements well together. A clear note of black pepper. Next up some vanilla, caramel and toffees. More fruit on the palate: lemon and apples.

Medium-long. Ashes keeps lingering on together with some pepper. Some vanilla and fruity toffees and at the end some nut-oil.

In the nose I have associations of cold drizzle weather by the sea, maritime with the smell of campfire, some sherry and sweetness from honey, wet earth and woody with spices like pepper, nutmeg and a little hint of cinnamon. Overall, the whisky on the nose could be more exciting and fruity. The woodiness is too present.

In the mouth it is very strong undiluted, which was to be expected. Dark fruits, boiled down and with a hint of sulfur, then comes the pepper and spiciness. Burnt wood, salt and spiciness dominate, but then the sweetness comes back. Tastes delicious, but I lack a “wow is great” feeling.

The finish is a maximum of medium length. The smokiness with wood and spices and the accompanying sweetness are gone too quickly for my taste.

Mhhh difficult ... the whisky tastes good, I found the Williamson I had in the glass yesterday a little bit better. Although I have to say that I like the smoke better here. Overall, there is one point less.

Versatile whisky, develops continuously, a lot of sweet and fruity notes besides the smoke and peat, very strong as well. A very pleasant dram.

Peat and overripe fruit, citrus as well, with an ashy edge on it. Then it gets more organic, green of plants. Later on, it gets warmer again, bonfire, spicy. A lot of development in the nose.
    • Taste
      88 88
Some sal ammoniac in the beginning, strong, pickering, pepper. Peat and smoke but also some sweet notes, caramel and some chocolate, prunes as well. Later on some more citrus and still sweetness, caramel and milkchocolate.
    • Finish
      88 88
Strong, a lot of smoke and peat, also some dark chocolate and a somewhat bitter finish, ashy. Later on more sweetness, honey and fruity, long finish.
