    number 15, blind as always

extremely soft and supple, but almost a bit boring in the smell. Vanilla and flowers. Dough, malt, vanilla and lots of oak? More woody and tart than sweet.
The taste is then clearly livelier, tart oak, vanilla, quite a bit of strength on the palate. Malty and somehow dominated by oak? a bit alcoholic, with marzipan and just a lot of malt.

Funny how this extremely fine and almost boring nose then becomes so alky and wild in taste - unfortunately I don't like either here because both are a bit too extreme in a different direction.

    N-83, T-80, F-80 for unfortunately a lousy 81 points

A solid whisky that is a bit bulky at times.
    • Nose
      86 86
Fermented apricots, musty and damp wood, clammy autumn leaves. Vanilla. Here and there fresh fruits shimmer through, as a small greeting from the long past summer. But autumn is announced here now.
    • Taste
      84 84
Very strong, almost biting start (even with half a teaspoon of water). Almonds, hazelnuts, marzipan bread, roasted orange peel, burnt caramel and toffee. More on the bitter than on the lovely side. 84

Quite short, but leaves traces of milk chocolate, white coffee, almonds and hazelnuts.

  4. Der_Schnappulierer scored this whisky 82 points Expert Senior

Difficult. Closed and badly integrated alcohol. You can tickle something with water and standing time, but it won't really be worthwhile for me. A little irrelevant.
    • Nose
      83 83
The alcohol stings slightly and the whisky is pretty closed at first. Vanilla, raisins, lemon, sweet and sour. With a little time, apple and honey.

Finer with water and less alcoholic. Sweet pastries and cookies, apple pie, pears, grapes and oranges.
    • Taste
      81 81
Well, there is definitely more in the mouth. Lots of oak, malt, orange, vanilla, a little spiciness, raisins, lemons, some pastries. The alcohol comes here less intrusive than in the nose.

No change in the mouth with water, just a little lighter.

Medium. Oak flavor, sweetness, with a hint of nuts and chocolate.

  6. Astrid scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

Ripe and rich, without showing the great complexity.
    • Nose
      82 82
intense vanilla and spicy oak, very sweet, caramel and chocolate cream with chopped hazelnuts, a little malt, after a while also orange aromas and the sweetness becomes more honey-like, with the sweetness of light raisins
    • Taste
      80 80
Vanilla and sweet malt at the start, which squeezes alcohol, clove spice and cinnamon harmonize with active oak, caramel and toffee, notes of orange and raisins, ginger
    • Finish
      83 83
this is where the PX comes into its own, the oranges and raisins prancing around, chocolatey aromas, hints of sulfur, oak and minimal grain
