Whisky Reviews for Balblair 1966 GM
4 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 86.82 points
- almost an old bottle of whisky on cream, caramel and soft wood!
yellow fruit compote, slight fruity sensation of fact,
a little fine smoke, spices that amplify this, a few blades of grass and the annoying feeling of having a good product a little too watery!
a good dram that could serve as a starter, a height almost!
- Colour: Old gold.
Nose: Round, on juicy malt, dry peat smoke, and ripe fruits
(peach and tangerine).
Taste: Malty, smoky, very smooth, floral, slightly
grassy and floral, and on juicy malt. The finish is medium, creamy, on juicy
malt, old peat smoke and ripe fruits.
General Impression: An old Balblair,
very smooth and almost silky, with some pleasant peat smoke. Some additional
%ABV would have probably revealed more complexity.
- This Balblair does not reconcile me especially with the old whiskys. It's not bad, but that does not carry me away.
Nose rather erased, the scents are discrete. I prefer more power, more grandeur to the nose.
Varnished wood in the foreground. Burnt caramel, overcooked apricot compote. Liquorice afterwards.
An aqueous attack mixed with spicy spices. Yellow fruit jam dominates.
Final on the bitterness of cocoa powder and on the wood dust.
