Definitely something that is complex and takes time, but a classy stuff. Something more is sure to come over time.
There is fine wood with a note of sandalwood and a little cinnamon. Churches us sweet malt. But also something fruity, perhaps like strawberry and apricot jam and gingerbread.
There is fine wood, and again jam and gingerbread. Malt, but also a little cowshed ala bruichladdich, but well integrated and not as distinctive. A little smoke and then wood. Is there still leather? But some nutmeg and cardamom.
Sweet and turns into a slight bitterness with a little tobacco and coffee and pure cocoa. Great stuff, only the finish could be a bit more.
For me the nose is the best part! Tastebuds are telling me it's a bit bitter, the alcohol is decent integrated but for me not much more to explore. Tasting this makes it hard to believe it is 40yo, think it's a nice whisky but for me nothing special. It's only because of the good nose it gets an 80+ score.
