So far I know Clynelish only as sherry ripening from the flower vase of SV. Let's see what he can do:

Very fresh and herbs. Fruity, here I have more apple and pear. Rather sweet, honey directly from the forest clearing. Also rather cooling, so minty. Of course, for the Fassreifung I also find vanilla.
Alcohol is, as expected, beautifully integrated.
With water the thing becomes more fruity. However, the alcohol sharpener.

Very strong vanilla on the go. The painting tingles nicely on the tongue. But he does not seem really complex. Alcohol is well integrated even without water.
Towards the end I clearly have pear. Sweetness is constantly increasing.
The malt does not win for me with water. Seasoning is increasing. That's it.

Dry. Complacent. Citrus emphasized. Minimal bitterness. Overall, very long finish, which ends in a beautiful honey sweetness.

Beautiful bourbon malt. I think a few more years would do him good. I miss the set / round which Bourbon Matured Malts often have after 20+ yrs. But it's worth trying, as always.

    are 86 points?

Simple, yet incredibly well made. The proof is spot on and serves a perfectly balanced distillate that shows good texture and a surprising degree of evolutivity on the palate considering the age. I'd say it's a bang for your buck for someone looking for a good entry-level Clynelish that has no flaw and a generous delivery. 87+/88-

Given its youth, it's no surprise that the nose is initially marked by dry maltiness and raw alcohol. These will go off within a few minutes though, revealing a very nice quatuor of cocoa butter, banana milkshake, white chocolate and wax. Round and stable, this main combo gets added notes of dried grasses and wildflowers with time, and even a light bitter citrus twist. Simple, but very good. Few changes with water : the already obvious banana grows even more.

Excellent ! Great arrival with good waxy texture and good alcohol integration leading in a progressive and controlled bite. A little banana soon morphing to white chocolate again, evolving super nicely afterwards with further chewing on big loads of almond milk (big time, really), meadow grasses and macadamia nuts. Lovely !
    • Finish
      88 88
In the palate's prolongation, with some big obvious almond milk again, white chocolate, some maltiness and a new fizzy citrusy turn, that had been absent thus far and brings a much welcome freshness in the end. Medium length.

Nice powerful and fruity whisky, with some bitter notes, more on the grapefruits. Pleasant.

Fresh, fruity, fresh orange, tangerine. Quite some alcohol, a bit chalky. Full scent. More ripe citrus later on. Some caramel sweetness.
    • Taste
      86 86
Quite powerful, fruity, citrus, orange. A slight bitter touch, grapefruits.
    • Finish

Still powerful, punching. Bitter fruitiness, grapefruits. Oranges. Quite warming feeling. Seems like gaining power along the way. Pretty long.

Nose: Many fruits, some sugar, dried fruits.
Taste: Mild. Unfortunately, not much happens on the language. Well hidden alcohol. Unfortunately, the basic taste. The only ones you can feel in the background are fruits. But in very small quantities.
Rating: 84 100 Medium long finish with a mild flavor. Well, rather basic whisky. Without any fireworks.
